Very large resort. At least 1.5 km long. The food is good with many theme nights at buffet as well as several a la carte choices. Very few staff memebers speak or understand english so brush up on your spanish. Lots of excursions to do. No beach side waiters to serve drinks. Do visit Panama city.

I am glad we got a great deal on this trip as the resort was a bit of a disappointment. The best way to describe the rooms is "tired". Badly in need of updating. Hot water was sporadic meaning you couldn't shower when you wanted to. The shower head barely sprayed and we asked for someone to fix it and they didn't show in the two weeks we were there. Luckily I was able to adjust and unclog it enough to make it usable. The food gets boring very quickly. Everything is covered in a sauce and often lacks flavour. A La Carte restaurants have a limited menu and food can be ho hum one night and great the next. Buffets have trouble keeping the food hot and most of it is warm at best. Went on a couple of tours that were OK but one rushed us through everything so we could avoid Carnaval traffic and the other one the guide took too long and we missed our shopping stop as promised. When I asked him about it, he told me to take the public bus to nearest town if I wanted. He said there was no schedule and it would be an experience I wouldn't forget. Our one tour was both French and English and the time to translate from Spanish to both languages threw us way behind.
Pools and beach were nice and relatively well maintained. there is a big push at building resorts in this area and Decameron needs to seriously train its staff better and update the resort or they will be left in the dust! As reported, the weather is awesome!
The 2 hour plus bus ride from the airport is difficult. There is a new airport right beside the resort and we were told by our guide that Air Transat will be flying in to it next year. Not sure if it is big enough to handle large aircraft but if it does, this resort will become far more attractive.

Room Tip: As noise carries in the buildings, it likely would be best to be on the top (3rd) floor to avoid ove...

Spent 5 days at this resort Mar 5-10. Weather was fantastically hot! Wear sunscreen and use at least SPF 50. Grounds are well kept. To get shaded chairs go down to the pool around 7-7:30 am. Pools are very nice, beach is nice too - seems to be more chairs on the beach. Rooms are average but generally clean. Hot water is limited. Food is average. Breakfast is good, can get anything you want. For other meals, you better like rice and beans. Salad dressing, veggies are limited. Mostly spanish fair. Burgers are available at the bar below lobby 1 for lunch. Booking restaurants for the evenings was generally quite easy and food was good. Biggest problem was the wifi - $48 for 3 days - but you could use it in most places. You also have to pay for a safe ($16). Take a stroll down the beach to see Woody's and go the other way to visit the ruins of Noriega's beach house. Long bus ride to and from the airport. Overall, a good trip for rest and relaxation. You get what you pay for and this trip was at a good price.

Room Tip: We were in block 20 which was central and not as many stairs. Close to the infinity pool.

We went to the Royal Decameron from Feb 18 to March 4. The weather was fabulous, hot and humid. Being fair skinned and golfing that entailed a lot of SPF 30. The golf course was okay. Not easy with a lot of ways to loose balls - either in the water or one of the Villa yards. The greens were quite slow. For us golfing in the early morning and then going to the pool for a couple of hours was just right as we are not sun worshippers. Regardless of your tee off time go at about 8:00 and they will get you out earlier which is great as it is quite hot our there. It cost $1.00 per day to leave your clubs at the golf course throughout your stay which is much better than hauling them home each day. The golf carts cost $30.00 US per day for two people. We met many very nice people on the golf course. At the end of your round someone can run you home in a golf cart or you can catch a shuttle which comes to the golf course. We liked to go with Chicky and tipped him a couple of dollars and he was extremely appreciative. We stayed in Villa 72 and it was okay but friends of ours asked to be close to us and they stayed in Villa 71 and it was much better in terms of furniture and it had a great, large covered patio and nice patio furniture and fans outside. We were close to the gate to walk to Lobby 3 so the location was good. Yes, there s a fair bit of walking but they are very upfront about that and it helps to work off what you drink. The food also isn't great but we weren't expecting much based on the reviews but we weren't there for the food. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the bottom of Lobby 1 there is a small market with local crafts which is worth going to. We didn't find any of the a la carte restaurants to be great and if you're a wine drinker bring or buy your own as the white wine is usually served warm and it can be nasty. Great places for maragritas are the second lobby between 5:00 - 11:00 if they are made by Jorge (George). He speaks Spanish, French and some English. He is extremely personable and an excellent bartender. The other good place is the infinite pool bar if Josie is the bar tender (between lobby 2 and Lobby 1). The pool bars open at 11:00 I think and closes at 5:00. The infinite pool also has a great lunch - stir fried veggies. It was the best place by far to eat any meal. You should remember to bring a bubba container for your drinks (Canadian Tire - but perhaps not the barrel size that some had). These are very handy. We went on two tours and booked them prior to getting to Panama. We booked them through Road Runner which is a Canadian owned company. The first day we had Penny for our tour to the canal, old town, out for lunch, the bario and the artisan market. It was only our guide and the two of us and it was great. 8:00 pick up and we were dropped off at 7:00. The next day we went to Captain Carl's jungle land and while good it wasn't fantastic. Neil was our driver and Penny was more personable and not quite as opinionated. But based on what we heard from others our trips were ten times better than the Noltitours trips. In the villas, though they have kitchens etc., there are no dishes, glassware etc. We brought an ice cube tray, and wine glasses and tall plastic glasses. They definitely came in handy. The main floor villas are worth the extra money when compared to the rooms on the second floor. The main floor villas have 1.5 bathrooms, a bedroom, living room, dining room, out door area, and fridge and microwave. We did go down to Woody's on two occasions. The second time was on a Saturday night when the NHL hockey game was on and they had a live band. The dancing was great but I won't recommend heading over during the day. They do have free wifi however. While we won't be going back again we did have a great time golfing and meeting awesome people.

Room Tip: If you have problems with your room go to the Lobby 2 reception (which isn't as busy as Lobby 1...

Hell! Three days of ants in my bed. No hot water. Nobody even showed up to the room. Took three days to find another room. Room on the golf course. Had to take a van to eat or swim or 20 minute walk. 90 steps up and down to the beach 3 times a day. Not for anybody over 30. Free golf cost $110. No bottled water from the airport. 2 hour bus ride from airport. All excursions at least 2-3 hour bus drive anywhere. Nolitours was no help. No English when you want something fixed. Took 3 hours to get luggage on arrival and they left it outside on the steps. New Year's Eve was good and food was good. Screwed up my seats on the way home. Lost 5 lbs. with all the walking. 3 lobbies and none know what the other does. Transat and Nolitours offered $100 credit. Joke!!!

Room Tip: If you don't want to walk stay in the hotel not the villas. Resort is too big.

We left for Panama on Feb 25th and came home March 4th. The weather was absolutely beautiful when we arrived! Our hotel from the air port was 2 hours away. Which seemed like a life time cause we had already been traveling for 8 hours.(later on during our trip they had informed us that another airport was almost finished being built nearly minutes away from this resort!!!). Once we got to the resort, we found our way to our rooms. Once in the room we were so tired from all the traveling, hungry and sadly complaining about our expectations for the room. Its an average room and you had to pay for a safety box and a mini fridge. That's the first resort id ever been to where you had to pay for both of those. But the location of our room from the beach was handy. Probably a two minute walk. The food is fairly good, I enjoyed most of my meals and the buffets had a lot of options.DO NOT miss out on breakfast though!! The service was good for the most part, a lot of the staff was still unable to speak fluent English but whenever they got confused to what you were asking of them they would ask someone to translate. I loved how spaced out the rooms were, it was nice to be able to go for those long walks around the resort when you needed to walk off your supper. The entertainment staff was great! So friendly and VERY outgoing people, the weather was still hot at night so to watch them do their performance with the beads of sweat dripping off them was nuts! We went during the time of their carnival, and because of how bad the traffic was we couldn't go, so they brought the carnival to all of us and we had our own little celebration!! They made sure that whoever wanted to join was dressed up in glitter and had masks! It was so much fun, even to watch! The sun was hot by 6:30 am! We made had to put sunblock on every couple hours and made sure to sit in the shade every now and then so we wouldn't burn too badly. It was very clean and I ALWAYS felt safe! The guide had told us that whatever you want to give to the maid remember to write down what your giving her with your room number otherwise she could be accused of stealing! Also at the end of each hallway to the rooms there were security cameras, which made me feel even more safe than I already was! The people were very friendly and made you feel welcomed at all times of the day. I cannot tell you how sad I was to leave!!! The ocean was beautiful everyday, water was never cold, the beach was HUGE! Weather was perfect everyday, only rained one time and that was the day we left and it rained right in Panama City. Even then the rain was only for a short period of time. It wasn't muggy or make my clothing feel gross. The evenings were beautiful!! Usually I would need a sweater for the slightly chilly nights, but I swear it was hot at all times of our trip!! It was truly so sad to leave, and I cannot wait to go back!!! :) I suggest going to anybody who needs a get away from the winter weather, or just needs a get away in general! you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: Try to get a room near the beach! Unless you will be there for the golfing, otherwise getting a vill...
