“Second biggest in the world”

It was the first , but then, the chinese made a bigger recently... // The structure for turism is very good, with a/c buses taking you for a ride all over the plant. A brazilian pride.

“Nearly fell asleep. Twice!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2013 via mobile

Ok, so i stayed in puerto iguazu and booked this tour that took me to the brasilean side of the waterfalls then to ciudad del este for some shopping and finally to the itaipu dam for a tour. We got to the facility and they played 2 short movies for us (15m each or so) yes they did show some interesting pictures, yes some of the facts were interesting, still, that didnt stop me from falling sleep on most bits. A 5 minute short film explaining the thing wouldve been just fine, a 15 minute repeating how massive and extraordinary it is didnt work for me. After that, we went on a bus and although the tour guide was super nice she did tell us all the same facts that we saw in that film yet again! Yes, ido understand the massive effort in building it, but come on. End of tour.
If you somehow are around the area then well i guess it's worth visiting. If you are not, then just maybe google it, read the facts and chek some pictures. Im being as honest as possible here, id like to read a review like this and maybe id have not taken the tour. Still, do appreaciate they give you a free tour and there was a great deal of work involved in building the plant.

“Impressive facility, informative one hour tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2013

This is close to Ciudad del Este, free, and informative. Our bus tour was in Spanish, so check ahead for tours in English. The dam is ENORMOUS, and an impressive engineering feat, particularly in a country where only 10% of the roads are even paved.

“Biggest Power generator inthe world”

Fantastic tour - but just as well we had English translators - everything is in Spanish.

Very politically correct, but did not mention the environmental devastation that was caused.

“Neat tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2012

This was a very well organized and interesting tour. You do not have a fee to pay here. Something strange but true. The guide was very helpful and the video was very well done.
