I stayed at this hotel for almost 3 weeks while in Puno for work. I travel frequently for work in South America, Africa and Asia and overall I think the hotel is good value for money. The rooms are nice and comfortable, the staff is super friendly, and the food at the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner is pretty good.
But by far the nicest feature of the hotel is the amazing view of the hotel and the nice garden outside the restaurant. I had been assigned a street view room but asked for a lake view room upon arrival and they changed it for me without a problem.
The staff was also very helpful in exchanging large amounts of US dollars into soles we needed for work at a decent exchange rate (not as good as in money exchange places in the city center, but not bad for a hotel). As most nice hotels in Puno, they also have an oxygen tank you can request free for 15 minute periods (which they'll take to your room which is nice because you can lie in your own bed watching TV rather than lying down at the infirmary), and which they usually let you have for a bit longer, maybe up to half an hour
The hotel is away from the city center, so you have to take taxi cabs called by the hotel (which will charge you 6 or 7 soles -US$2 or 3- for the 10 minute ride) to go to the Plaza de Armas and the restaurants in Jr. Lima.
One minor problem with the rooms is that walls are thin so if you have noisy neighbors it can be a little annoying. Since I was there for work, I was on a different schedule than most of the guests who were tourists, which I meant they would wake me up when they got ready for their early morning tours and I would keep them up when we would be discussing work late at night. Ah, and the train track is a few steps from the hotel, so if the guests don't wake you up, the train will around 6:30 am. Luckily, it only passes once in the morning.
Overall, the I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and would go back there if I don't need to be closer to the city center.
