You will notice that the best ratings come from those who have chosen the faster boats going to the south side of the island. Travel time is about 1.5 hours and you will have a more unique and educational experience. We met kind islanders who taught us how they weave, the meanings of their dress, and their homeopathic herb usages. The south side had beautiful overlook views too. We went with Edgar Adventures's Expess Island Special. It was the costliest, but worth it.

The village experience was just that of a 'mercado' and that too for knitted clothes. However, the views on the way back were nice.

Peru touched us and we decided to return, we wanted to give more time and discover more places. The Taquile island gave us an approach to the ancient techniques that survived until our days. The people in the island were very kind and they offered not onloy their products, but also lodging. The view to the lake is spectacular and one night was the best option we had. Do not miss this island.

Our trip to Taquile Island was very disappointing. It took 2,5 hours to get there, then you have to walk up on a steep hill, which takes you about 30 minutes. You then get a lunch which was to discusting to even talk about, cold fish, rice and somethings what supposed to be vegetables. If you go inside and you look at the kitchen it is supprising nobody gets instantly serious foodpoising.
After lunch they are very fast with the bill and for the rest on the island there is nothing to see or do. We had to search for the nitting man who supposed to be there in great numbers...NOT.
Advise only go to the floating islands and then get back to Puno and don't go the the Taquile Islands.

We came here on an overnight tour. The islands are sweet but there is a bit of a hike to get to the main square.

The lunch we had was nice - a decent omelette with rice and vegies for vegetarians.

There is not a huge amount to do here, but the scenery is lovely
