“Titicaca Express is Worth It”
Review of Edgar Adventures

I concur with so many others to book the express tour. The travel time is reduced, the education will be better, and the traditional lunch was outstanding. The best trucha and quinoa soup I have ever had. My family and I are not "tour" people. We tend to do our own thing. But this worked for us. The express tour does book up, so call in advance. We called late in the day to book and could only get a reservation 2 days later. They were also a challenge to communicate with over the phone, it took several back and forth phone calls.

Recently did the one day kayak trip with Edgar adventures. We went to the office the night before to confirm our reservation and pay (FYI, requested pay in cash only). The next morning we were picked up and walked to a bus that took us to the port. The great efficiently got around 30 people on the boat from all over Puno and left promptly. The trip starts with a morning visit to Uros floating islands (~ 1 hr), then headed to Luquina for kayaking. One thing to note, we booked through Edgar adventures, but there were only 2 of us kayaking (we had our own guide) - and we were added onto a larger group that was going to Uros and Taquile. We traveled with the group to Uros and then they dropped us off and picked us up at Luquina. Once dropped off we walked and set up for kayaking (note: this is more like sea kayaking - you use the aprons that keep the water off you and your kayak has a rudder). You kayak for ~ 1.5 hours each way to a beach where you have a rest and then kayak back. There were only 2 of us in the group (in the same kayak), and we had our own private guide. Also, the family that stores the kayaks and all of the gear also sends the man out in a boat to drive along side of you while you kayak - our guide called him our baywatch. Once finished kayaking we walked up toward the top of Luquina and had lunch at a cute little restaurant. Then is the only negative of this experience - you finish up lunch and have about 2 hours until the other tour is returning to pick you up. There is not a ton to do in Luquina so we ended up laying around the place we had lunch - they offered that we could take a nap in one of the rooms (it is also a home stay).

Basically I believe that kayaking is new on Lake Titicaca, but that part ran very smoothly. The main issue is the transportation - being a part of another tour group was a bit frustrating and led to some downtime - if they fix this issue then it would be great. Overall if you enjoy kayaking then is worth doing.

Lake Titicaca, located on the border of Bolivia and Peru is a MUST do.
We spent time on Lake Tequile and had an awesome lunch of soup and trout. Yummy. Then back on the boat to Amantani Island where we stayed overnight in the locals homes. Such a great experience. They dressed us in national custume after dinner and took us to the local disco!! At 3850 m above sea level, we all puffed a lot and had to sit every other dance out. A lot of fun. The following day we travelled to Uros the floating reed islands. This was truly an incredible experience. Our guide Oswaldo from Edgar Adventures was so knowledgable and had such pride in his country and in his guiding role. A great guy. Thanks Oswaldo.

We booked the Titicaca express trip and it was amazing. It didnt took long before we reached the first Island (with the other boats its taking a while before you get to the first island). We had a great day at Titicaca lake and we loved visiting the three islands. Especially the floating islands were quite an experience. The lunch we had at the second island was really good, traditionally cooked under the ground. Our guide Jorge (George :) ) showed us the most beautifull things. He was very kind and he had a lot to tell about the different islands and the Peruvian culture. We had a great time with Jorge, he made the trip even more fun!
I would definately recommend this trip!

If you're looking for a great cultural tour of Lake Titicaca, Edgar Adventures is it. Sure, there are cheaper tours, but when you've traveled this far, you really don't want to cheat yourself on the experience.

I specifically chose their "cultural tour" of Lake Titicaca, because it promised not only to take us to the less touristy side of Taquile, but also included a pachamanca lunch. Additionally, the tour is set up so that you visit the Uros Floating Islands on the way back to port, after the other tourists have left. We didn't see one other tour group after leaving port, can you believe it?

Our guide, Henry, was possible the most knowledgeable guide I've ever had, You could tell he took real pride in sharing the history and culture of Peru with visitor, and in being from Puno. Lunch was great, and the children of the floating islands were my daughter's favorite part of the day. Highly recommend.
