Overnighted here. Hotel is well appointed, for class level, clean and well presented. Close to main area of Puno with restaurants etc. Breakfast is good. No lifts that I saw which given the altitude could affect some. Seems however that place is only used to one nighters passing through on tours. Some of our party tried to book a day use room while they waited for a late flight and hotel appeared very reluctant to assist or even provide clear information of what terms this service would be offered or even if they could offer it. It was as if they didnt want to deal with anything outside the standard overnight stays. Quite strange really

Room tip: Lower level if your dont want to walk up and down stairs at altitude

The hotel itself is fine - it's clean, has hot showers, and does a good breakfast, but there were some drawbacks.

The rooms feel a bit lifeless - the walls are white, it just doesn't have the same atmosphere that we've experienced in other Peru hotels. The rooms were also FREEZING, and the heater we had did virtually nothing.

You also have to pay extra to have wifi in the room - it's only 15 soles for the day but it seems really unnecessary to make guests pay for it - we have not had to do that in any other hotel so not really sure why you have to pay here. It also didn't work for us the second day - we called reception multiple times and they couldn't help so it wasn't ideal.

There are also no elevators - when you are at 3800m and have two heavy suitcases and are staying on the 3rd floor, you do get a bit breathless.

Overall an average hotel that is ok as a stopover but I probably wouldn't rush back.

Casa Andina Tikarani is only a short walk away from some of the best bars, restaurants, and attractions in Puno. The hotel was very clean and nice looking. Their breakfast was simple, fresh, and good. The staff members were very courteous.

Good location and a good hotel, but beware: there are no elevators and this city is higher than Cusco. Altitude sickness can get to you, and if you have to come up three flights of stairs every time you go to your room, it could become a problem.

Room tip: Try to get a room on the lower floors.

OK the hotel is perfectly clean, the rooms are comfortable and well maintained and the location is good. Why was it the worst place we stayed in on our 25 day trip? Because of all the other things! There is some sort of machine - air conditioning? That operates through the night firing up every few minutes. It's enough to keep you awake all night. They only offer wifi for free in the lobby - the only place we stayed in in our whole trip that did this ( you have to pay extra to have it in your room ). Not only that but it really doesn't work. Not only we but others had to get help to sign on and then gave up in disgust as the connection just kept breaking. We didn't have this problem anywhere else. Breakfast was OK but lacklustre compared to other places. We weren't on a luxury spend holiday but other hotels in Peru cared about their guests. This place doesn't. However my caveat is the front of house staff, lovely people left having to apologise for stuff that they couldn't do anything about. I'm aware this is fairly critical but look at my other reviews to see that Andina are not working hard enough!
