We stayed 2 nights on Suasi in the middle of a frenetic trip through Peru. The island is a haven of tranquility, with abundent wildlife (vicunas, alpacas, birds, flowers, viscachas....).
We were pariculalry glad we stayed here because it showed us the beauty of Titicaca, which was not so easy to uncover from Puno (especially on Disney-uros!!). Food was good and the staff created a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

We spent one day one night here, which was just wonderful, a real oasis in our very hetic three week tour. This is an eco lodge, but all the usual needs are catered for. One can be as energetic (bearing in mind the altitude) or as lazy as one wants. There are plenty of walking paths on the island and the on-site first class ranger is always willing to take you on a new adventure. Beautiful sunsets can be seen from the high point of the island. The boat transfer was very enjoyable across amazing Lake Titcaca. It can be quite cold at night but bedrooms have a log fire! and hot water bottles are provide and placed in beds.

It is a magicl place at the far side of the Titicaca Lake. You get here my boat on a 3 hours trip all across the magnificence of the lake.

Imagine yourself dining a delicious at the top of the island having the whole espectacular view of the Titicaca Lake, it is priceless.

The accomodations are complete, it has a SPA, pool table within an area capable for 15 people so you can have and great time with the guests or with your friends.

You can check on the stars and near planets during the night in the observatory and also some of the rooms have a glass window in the roof so you can take a moonbath during the night.

During the day you can go kayaking, take a walk and enjoy the flora and fauna of the island, took somw great pictures of flowers I had never seen before.

The attention of the whole staff was incredible and extremely helpful since the there are no phones, no commercial electricity but solar power. I acquire a package that allowed me to drink all the possible wine, whisky, Pisco and sodas so I was the most part of the day happy, wity and eloquent talking to everyone and making friends even with the Lamas and the Vicunas of the island.

If you can afford it, this can be the most beautiful place to visit and enjoy in Puno... when you stare at the lake contemplating at its greatness, time stops and you become one with the landscape.

We decided to end our 10-day trip to Peru with a stay on Suasi Island at the Casa Andina Private Collection Hotel. Because the transfer only leaves once a day, we stayed overnight at the Casa Andina Private Collection in Puno, which was a nice experience in itself. The hotel arranged for the transfer, which was a boat ride across the lake with stops at the Uros Islands and Taquile Island, both of which were nice to visit, but the Uros Islands were especially unique. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Upon arrival to Suasi Island, we knew we were in for a treat. The island itself is beautiful. We had a delicious lunch and rested for the afternoon prior to the sunset hike. The guide for our hike was very friendly, and we very much enjoyed chatting with him about Suasi Island, Lake Titicaca, and Peru in general (even delving into U.S. politics!). Dinner that night was excellent, and as noted by others, the waitstaff is to be commended for their service and friendliness.

The hotel is an ecolodge, so lights went out around 10:30 p.m. or so (though, as noted, you can charge things in the lobby any time, and you will see lots of people checking e-mail and such there because it's also the only place with wifi). There's not really anything to do at night, so we were find turning in early. The staff light the fireplace before dark and place bottles of hot water on the bed to warm it. There is wood by the fireplace to keep it going, though I added a bit much and it got rather toasty! Overnight, the fire died and I couldn't figure out how to get it started again. Fortunately, the bed had plenty of covers :).

Breakfast the next morning was very good, with made-to-order eggs. I had an excellent massage as well. As for hot water, I would recommend showering during daylight, since everything is powered by solar panels. My wife took a shower after dinner and the water was lukewarm. I took a shower around 10am the next morning, after my massage, and the water was very hot.

Because we had a flight out of Juliaca leaving that evening, we arranged for a second lunch. Our transfer to Juliaca involved a short, pleasant trip by an inflatable motorboat to the nearest shore (about 10 mins), then a 2-hour drive to Juliaca. Another group of visitors took the long boat ride back to Puno (about 3 hours) (note, the boat to/from Puno is a large, enclosed boat, not the motorboat we took to shore), then went by road from Puno to Juliaca (about an hour). I would probably recommend the shorter boat ride and longer drive, as we got to see some very interesting countryside (though the roads left much to be desired).

Overall, we thought Suasi Island was a great place to stay for 1.5 days at the end of our trip. If you go knowing what to expect, you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely spectacular location in Lake Titicaca. Beautiful views. Gorgeous landscaping. Lots of walking paths. This is an Eco-lodge so electricity is only turned on from 4:30 to 10:30 PM. The rooms and bathrooms have skylights though (at least ours did) so this was not an inconvenience. Electronic devices can be charged 24-7 at the front desk. Guest room was comfortable with a giant bed. Wood stove for the chilly nights. Staff fires it up for you early in the evening. Food was generally good but not outstanding. Open bar included wine, beer, and even a good bottle of Scotch, no extra charge. Dining staff was well organized and attentive. Activities staff also pleasant and helpful. Front desk staff seemed to consist of one woman. When available at all (she disappeared a lot), she was generally worthless. Could not change a 100 soles bill for us (about $40). She alone keeps us from giving 5 stars. All in all though, if you want to spend a couple days at Lake Titicaca, this is a nice place to do it.
