“Great Food. Special occasions place...”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

I lived in Trujillo for a year in 2008 and spent many a night at Chelsea. Typically we would go there for "Big Event" type nights like birthday's or other special celebrations. We typically would order steaks which were always great. The prices here are a bit higher so use it as a special occasions type place, but I highly recommend it.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

We were really excited to go after seeing such great reviews on here, so we were especially disappointed by the mediocre food And high prices. Rocoto spaghetti and beef chimichurri was good and the shrimp and cheese stuffed mushrooms were excellent but the other dishes were really flavorless and the shrimp was incredibly overcooked. To their credit, service was good and our waiter was very accommodating. Cool ambiance but with random 80s American rock music. (Blasting madonna doesn't really get us in the mood for nuevo peruvian food) Best part was the pisco sour!

“Best meal I had in Trujillo”
Reviewed 20 July 2013

Had a very nice dinner at the Chelsea. Attentive waitress, good drink and amazing food. The restaurant was a throw back of times gone by. Great interior space, and tons of good atmosphere. A highlight of my Trujillo trip.

“Charming Atmosphere”
Reviewed 18 February 2013

Restaurant is a good walk from Plaza des Armas but since so many restaurants look like dumps, this place stands out. Typical food well prepared.

“Don't miss the Chelsea”
Reviewed 8 February 2013

The restaurant is beautiful, in a historic old building with a fabulous looking bar that I never had time to enjoy in and of itself! A friend took us there for a late lunch that was fabulous, great wine and ceviche included. Really nice staff and not that expensive. It is a local institution, and in the back there is a bandstand and dance floor that was getting ready for New Year's eve with live music. The place must have rocked! You can easily walk there from the Plaza de Armas, right down Trujillo's nice pedestrian street. Just before you get to the end, where it meets the still-intact old city gate and the cute tree-shaded park where the craft booths are set up, you turn right and go about 3 blocks. Incidentally, you pass by a new family restaurant with those great rotissary chickens (with Cusquenos, my favorite Peru beer!) that can be hard to find. Really nice family and great food!
