Attraction details
Owner description: The 'mother of all parks' in Baguio city, the summer capital of the Philippines, is a 32.84-hectare park designed by, and named after, American architect and urban planner Daniel Hudson Burnham, who also designed the original plan for Baguio City as well as Dewey Boulevard (now Roxas Boulevard) in Manila. The park has 12 main areas, the most popular of which are the Burnham Lagoon, a man-made lake with rowboats for hire; a children's playground; a skating rink; the Rose Garden and the Picnic Grove.

What can you do when you're in Burnham park

If you're in groups, you can try boating. 30 minute ride will be fine so you visit other places. If you don't want to paddle, you can hire boat helpers for a fee of course. service is not free. try to haggle with the boat rate and fee first before riding.

For groups games, you can do "touch the ball" in the grassy areas. if you have no ball with you, just roll and form into ball a used news paper.

If you have kids, bring them to the new and improved children;s park thru the assistance of SM City Baguio. Biking cal also be fun but for kids below 7, assist them as its very dangerous if they bike alone as they could bump other riders.

For skaters, there;s skating rink. Skate and shoes are available for rent.

Starting 6pm, its nice to watch with your friends the dancing fountains at the rose garden arra north side of the park near bayanihan ukay-ukay. While in the area, you don't have to worry for nature's call as there are restrooms in the area for a fee.

If want a light massage (I dont recommend this if you're a female} , ambulant hilots/masseurs are in the park but never, never, never accept massage service offered by "burnham boys" especially during nighttime because you will say "sorry " later. please ignore these guys.

For food if you're on unlimited budget, try solibao or ganza restaurant but if your group want picnic style, there's a picnic area eastside of th skating rink near harrison road. but while having your meals, never give food while eating to the beggars because if you give one, another one and so on and so forth will be coming asking for food.

There are still a lot to write on burnham park including safety during daytime, nighttime. I was already a victim so next time I will share to you my experiences.

this is the last spot we visited during our day tour, my son and my nephew enjoyed the park amenities of the children's park like the swings, slides, monkey bars, bikes and trikes for rent, the animal statues, and of course the boat ride across the lake!

After three years, we visited Baguio again over the weekend. While the rest of the family slept late on a Sunday morning, I decided to rendezvous with a cousin at Burnham at 6:30 a.m. I wanted to feel Baguio in Burnham Park. I thought it would be the same old park...lots of weeping willow trees, quiet and serene. The park has metamorphosed into a melting pot for the young and old, the runners, the sports enthusiasts, the dance lovers. There were 3 groups exercising after the lagoon. One doing danz taebo another aerobics and the other purely calisthenics. They were good instructors and with the music blaring loud, the many park goers were exercising to the beat. What a refreshing site with the same old lagoon and the swan boats that does not fail to attract the kids, the teenagers and even the romantic couples...Burnham Park will always remain to be the center of Baguio City.

Be wise in buying from vendors though. Never leave valuables unattended

At least they did maintain the lagoon in good condition...with a new variety of boats. Though it seems to be overpriced. One boat for a group is 150/half-hour. But I did like the surrounding garden. I guess park management should not allow Public utility vehicles to go pass thru the park so as not to pollute the area especially those smoke belching PUJs/FXs.
