99% of Baguio hotels were already booked at this time of the year, and we were lucky to get the last 2 rooms of Ridgewood Residence and we are satisfied with our first time-stay here.
LOCATION: So near The Mansion (the official summer residence of the President of the Philippines), Wright Park (where you can go horseback riding) and a minute drive to Mines View. Its away from the busy part of the city and the surroundings are mixed residential and parks too. Tucked in the inner portion of a street so the noise from the main road and passing vehicles will not bother you at all. You can also go jogging in the vicinity/neighborhood and enjoy the breeze.
ROOMS: We got 2 De Luxe rooms with veranda on the 5th floor (don’t worry they have an elevator) at P3200 per room per night, plus an extra bed at P750.00 per night all with free buffet breakfast. Our room has 2 single beds with TV (not flat). No aircon (no need its 15 degrees cel.!!) The 1st room has a view facing the portion of The Mansion and hway and the other room is facing the residential areas and pine trees. The rooms are clean. Bedsheets are clean. Toilets are clean with complete toiletries and towels. Cleanliness checked!
FOOD: Breakfast Buffet is okay. Its limited but I enjoyed it. They have coffee, tea, fruits, juice , toasted bread, cereals ( nuts , milk and raisins are available ), egg, fried rice and 1 main dish for the day. If you don’t like the dish for the day, you can always order from the menu which is a bit pricey.
SERVICE: Great staff. All staff are commendable for good service , politeness, friendliness. During breakfast (peak season) they should add more waiters since the hotel has so many guests for faster service.
Overall this is a nice , clean hotel in a quiet location with real Baguio ambiance. The hotel lobby and dining area have woodlike interior with a fireplace. Cozy. I will surely go back or recommend this place to a friend.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- A bundle of pleasant ironies, Ridgewood Hotel basks in a seeming anonymity when side by side the big boys and girls in the industry. Quaint yet exquisite, laidback and provincial yet bustling and modern. There’s something about the place and the service that lets your guard down – but not excessively, and lets you luxuriate – but not obtrusively. Opened in 2004, Ridgewood Hotel is built to exude a homey ambiance, accentuated with log interiors, and the crisp scent of pine trees. Baguio is rich in culture and definitely has that distinctive and ironic charm: a bustling business center back-dropped with the cool climate and relaxing natural scenery. Ridgewood Hotel shares in this uniqueness as different tourist spots are nearby. Go horseback riding alongside Baguio’s Pony Boys at Wright Park. Take panoramic selfies at Mines View Park or group shots at the Mansion House. Marvel at the picturesque Camp John Hay. And just be. Where weekend getaways happen, social functions are memorable, and business meetings successful, the unabashed anonymity may be or must be a desirable welcome treat.
