“Comfortable and secure place to stay”
Reviewed 3 February 2013

We stayed 4 days as part of a group visiting Calapan and liked the place. Our room was humungously spacious, clean, and comfortable. It had a view of the pool area, and the dining area on the second floor. The toilet was plugged after first use, but one phone call brought the handyman around, who fixed the problem immediately. Shower had hot running water. You have to put up the sign to fix your room on the door knob, or else they will leave it alone for your privacy. Breakfasts were basic, and you had to order them the night before. Service was good with a smile, and the staff was eager to please. Wifi was good only in the main lobby. Close to Auntie Lola, the haute cuisine place in Calapan, according to a fellow I met. The mall was just across the street from the hotel for a little window shopping or fast food.

Room Tip: Any room facing the pool would be good.

Room rate for a Deluxe room was P2700 which included complimentary pick-up and drop off at Calapan Pier and breakfast for two. The breakfast wasn't anything special, staff were quite friendly and check-in and out was quick enough. I found the room to be of very good size after being in several hotels in Manila in the previous few weeks. Rooms are starting to look a little tired, but they were certainly comfortable enough. Good position on the main road into the city and across the road from the new Robinson's Mall. I would certainly stay there again if I was in Calapan.

Room Tip: Nice view of the pool if you are on the southern side.

The rooms are average in size, with two big beds.
Thank God for good airconditioning, made sleep relaxing.
Bathroom has a bath tub, and surprisingly the bath soap smells really good. Toothbrush/toothpaste kit is also provided aside from the usual shampoo and soap.
The rate of P2700/night in inclusive of transfers from Calapan pier and breakfast for 2pax.
If you don't feel like eating your meals inside the hotel, there's a quaint restaurant, walking distance from the hotel, called Auntie Lola's (turn left when you reach the road from the hotel compound). Must try are their baby back ribs and fruit shakes.
There's also a mall in front of the hotel compound, Neo Calapan Mall with 2 cinemas, a supermarket (Robinson's), 2 drugstores (Mercury and Watsons) and restaurants.
* Landbank bank with ATM is available within the hotel compound
* Pasalubong - available at the ferry terminal, must try are the suman and banana chips
* Calapan City has Max's, McDonalds, Jollibee and Chowking

For our family of 6 we reserved 2 De Luxe rooms which can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children below the age of 12 for free. The room was spacious as well as the bed (2 queen size), there is also a window sitting ledge which can also be used as a sleeping space if you are more than two adults. Reservation was a breeze; you just have to phone in their Frontdesk and state your name, date of stay and number of rooms to reserve, no downpayment is required. De Luxe room rate includes hotel transfer from Calapan pier and this is also hassle-free, I just called from Batangas Port when I purchased our ferry ticket so they can estimate their time of pick up. When we got off at the Calapan pier the hotel van is parked in the arrival area with my name printed in big letters pasted in front of the van. We checked in a little early than their normal check in time but it was ok and I was not charged additional rate. Hotel staffs are also very accommodating. One of our rooms has a pool view and it was nice, I also like the pool because it was very child-friendly, others may not like it since it’s so shallow but I do since most of my companions are kids.

Rooms already need a little bit of upgrading like bathroom tub is already chipped in and paint in the room is really dull. Details of service may also need to be reviewed by the management such as checking if water heater in the room is really functioning (ours was not) and bathroom rugs are in place. Both rooms we reserved do not have bathroom rugs and we still have to call Frontdesk to get one.

Overall, this place was already the best I had tried from several accommodations in Calapan City. But still, there are lots of room for improvement such as having free Wi-fi. By the way, Wifi connection in this hotel is being charged at Php100/hr. I think this is just absurd since even bus companies going to Batangas port are all providing free Wifi access.

Room Tip: Choose room with the pool view.

The most expensive room was fine and clean and with a couch, but not fancy. Periodically during the night there were periods of a rumbling noise, probably from the air conditioner. The pool looked nice but was too shallow for lap swimming. They nominally charge for wi-fi, but did not bill me. The breakfast was minimal via an ordered selection. OK but nothing special.

Pros: Reservation and check-in were fast. No down payment required. We asked the hotel to pick us up by their van from Calapan port with just a phone call. When we arrived at the port, the van was already waiting for us.The staff were very polite and eager to serve. The deluxe room is spacious, comfortable, with a nice and relaxing view. The price of P2,700 for one day is very reasonable considering that we were husband and wife, with two kids. The room had two queen sized beds, it had hot and cold shower with bath tub, and we got free breakfast for two, two complimentary bottles of water and coffee, and the room had hot water dispenser. The hotel is just walking distance from the newly opened Robinson's/Neo Calapan mall. The hotel's pool is very child friendly, the deepest part is only 5 feet and there's a wading pool for toddlers.

Cons: The resto beside the pool had a lot of flies when we had our breakfast. The walls of the comfort room could do a little more cleaning. And if you want to go to puerto galera, you still have to travel for about two hours by land. Although scenic, the travel to galera can be very dizzying because of the zigzags. The hotel can provide you with a van to galera for a fee. If you want to commute, the van to galera charges P100 per person.
