Circles located within the Shangri-La Makati hotel Manila, has a fantastic lunch buffet catering for all tastes. Japanese, Indian, Chinese, Western it's all provided and to finish it off a fantastic array of desserts.

Celebrating my 40th birthday at Circles Event at Makati Shangri-La was indeed a treat. It was my first to dine at Circles within Makati Shangri-La Hotel and visiting Makati Shangri-La Hotel to dine at Circles was bringing back fond memories of my early years in the corporate world working for a private accounting firm.

Sad and yet joyful to be having my 40th birthday lunch treat with my parents and co-birthday celebrator, my younger sister who turned 35 years old also on the same day.

Fabulous buffet selections that you won't forget to take yourself hopping from one buffet side to another or/and buffet table to another buffet table. I loved the seafood bar with their mussels and big prawns or thermidor. I tested an assortment of mayo concocted dips and condiments along the seafood bar, having every mussel in a different taste.

Drinks are pricey and I just love their selection albeit it is an extra on top of the buffet cost. Tea and coffee are also on top of the buffet cost. Indian food fare was the best and their dessert bar was also the best and you'd sure take a watch out on your dessert bar choices, not too sweet to the palate and not to choose anything bland. Frankly, all sweet offerings are sweet to the taste and not too annoyingly sweet to the taste.

I love the Sinfully section or dessert souvenir section, where my birthday cake came from. . . formal and corporate-like cake representation. What I missed when I was working under the corporate world. Sweet souvenir of 'pink to red lips' in a box with a kiss mark on the box lid is really worth to have as a souvenir from the Sinfully dessert or pastry section where tab out is separate from the buffet cost.

eating buffet doesn't necessary translate to god food... but if one knows how to look for gems in their spread, i would say Circles can provide some revelations:
1) Indian food is good except that naan should have been better if cooked as ordered
2) braised Chinese pork... tender, but sweet can be over empowering
3) raspberry sorbet... truly enjoyable. great for palate cleansing
5) desserts (i liked best the sphere of mango and strawberry)
6) tiger prawns... consistently huge and visually enticing

the others are just fine, worst i think is the pasta station (terrible).... best eaten if you got the 50% off vouchers... that is really best value.

weekday lunches and dinner menus do not vary much

This is one of my family's favorite places for buffet. They serve a great combination of food to cater to everyone's tastebuds. Not a cheap place at all but one can certainly consider this a "value for money" place still, since because of the quality of food, service, and the ambience it is certain that diners will leave the place satiated/content/highly satisfied.

With a wide variety of sumptuous cuisine and with a limited time because we are on a conference, there was no chance to try almost everything but everything really looks good from the display.
