“Very good for the money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2014 via mobile

This place was an overnight stay for us en route to Boracay the following day and for the money we paid it was worth it. I do have to say that the room did smell mouldy from the humidity and the air-con was dirty but past that it was good. I would definitely stay here again, although a tip for anyone traveling with a family -this place is right in the middle of the red light district which can be amusing but if you don't want to be hassled by people asking you to buy viagra or cialis, or girls approaching you, guys offering tazer guns etc then maybe try elsewhere. All up though it was completely safe even at night on the street amongst the riff raff and I would go back to stay again.

The hotel is old, the rooms too. The rooms stinks. If you want to have breakfest in the hotel, please go early, as they start taking the things from the tables at least 10 minutes before the time it would be closed. Once I've asked to the guys dowstairs in the lobby about a cab to go to INTRAMUROS... the guy said, the hotel cab is 1600 (1thousand and 6 hundred) Pesos. I've complained and asked myself for a cab on the street with meter on, so the real cost was only 140 pesos, so the guys were trying to charge me more than 10 x more the real cost. For sure I'll send a oficial/formal complaint to the Best Western Corporate Office. The wifi is really really slow. The obnly good thing about this hotel is that you are in the middle of makati downtown.

I have stayed here for about a week, it's definitely a nice clean place with a good location, close to Makati business district. Beware - the hotel is in the Red Light District, so as a foreigner you'll get approached non-stop by different hustlers on the street. Nothing to worry about, it's super-safe, but it might get a bit annoying.

There are nice bars/restaurants in the area, check the French-owned Le Curieux.

The breakfast was fine, not too much choice though, so don't expect much - but it did the job well. Wi-Fi access is annoying, you need to ask for a different code everyday. They also only give up to 2 codes per room, which is really backwards. Most people have a phone+laptop, so if there are two of you in a room, you might have to kick the other person off the internet when you need it.

The place is safe, they have non-stop staff on site. I'd definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Stay on the higher floors to avoid the hustle of the busy Burgos road.

The room was very old, used and looked dirty even it was cleaned! And the smell! It smelled wet! Would not stay here again until they redo the rooms! The food was delicious and the staff is friendly! Location...not recommended to families with small children because of the "bars" in the neighbor hood! But it's pretty close to Green Belt shopping mall.

very happy, but book online direct or with agoda etc, i rang the desk and got quoted the last room at twice what i could get it for by booking online, usual hotel practises. slightly seedy area being right in burgos street, but no doubt that will be a plus for some people. great rooms and views

I made a reservation at this hotel online knowing nothing about it other than it was part of the Best Western chain. The hotel itself is very good, but what makes it exceptional is its staff. Firstly, the hotel is clean and recently refurbished in some areas (it seemed). The rooms were spacious and clean, but otherwise were the standard hotel fare.

What stood out were the staff. From the moment you arrive to when you leave the staff - from the reception to the concierge - were exceptionally professional. They were not like most hotels where the staff are required to constantly acknowledge the guests, leading to an unending barrage of "Good morning mam-sir". Checking in and out was a breeze, and the staff was comfortable, perceptive yet very accommodating. One of the cleaning staff, JoJo, was exceptionally professional. He remembered the names of my kids, and each morning had a quick chat with each. He recognised that my mum drank a lot of water, so he made sure she was stocked with enough water to keep her happy. Little things that made a big difference.

What we hadn't prepared for was the fact that the hotel is located right in the middle of Manila's red-light district - quite literally, the ladies and ladyboys ply their trade on the street corner directly in front of the hotel's main entrance. My kids are still too young to know what was going on, and thankfully once you got into the hotel then that world more-or-less disappeared.

In all, we quite enjoyed our stay here.

I was visiting Manila overnight with a friend who was flying out early the next morning, so spent a little more on accommodation than I would ordinarily, when staying in Manila.
We didn't book beforehand and instead just walked-in. I expected this would gain us a cheaper rate than the online rate. However, it was actually more expensive but did include breakfast.

The entrance is bright and airy and Front Office staff were friendly and helpful (although, evening staff did not know where Handle Bar was and it was literally at the end of the opposite street).

The room we opted for was a non-smoking, Standard Twin, a large room with two double beds, bedside table and lighting, armchair and full-sized desk and chair. There was also ample wardrobe space, a clean, bright bathroom with a powerful shower and complimentary toiletries and a very large TV unit, with flat screen cable TV and DVD player. In addition, there is an in-room safe for valuables and tea/coffee making facilities, as well as a mini-fridge and bar.

The room was well maintained, clean, bright and airy. We did initially have some difficulty linking to the internet(using an Ipad) and our telephone didn't work in terms of being able to call reception. Included in the price is breakfast and the use of the gym.

Check out is 12 noon, but this can be extended for a fee as long as there is availability.

The breakfast was delicious and included European, Filipino, Chinese and American options.

This hotel is ideally placed for local attractions and must visit places including Glorietta and GreenHills and is also only 20 minutes from the airport (although this is dependent on traffic). It's also situated in an ideal place for taxi's, so you will have no difficulty getting transportation.
