Reviewed 7 December 2013

very clean room. Little bit small but okay for two people if you want to discover the city. Location is close to the red light district. We did not really like that so much but I did not get bothered too much by the ladies working there.

Tune Hotels are perfect for me. You pay what you need.

Tune Hotel Makati is a good place to stay, room's were ok but not very big if you are not picky, beds are comfortable, flat screen TV, and nice shower room.

Downside)
a) Room could use a mini fridge to keep drinks, fruit and medication cold.
b) Watch out for a cab driver there, he over prices his trips and then lies that he has no change because he has had no business.
c) Area is located next to Burgos st, there is a lot of women (prostitute) out at night, also a lot of white men not from the U.S but from Austrailia and surrounding regions looking for a good time, you will know because their the ones that can't seem to let go of the street woman.
d) Thank you to Bianca & Marla, they were so kind and courteous.
e) Remember to book on-line if you want a good price, and you will not have to pay any extra's for towels, TV, or internet uses. ( Insure that when on line accessories are included.
f) Again overall stay was good.
g) Again watch out for that cab driver, he always seem's to be at the front of the hotel waiting for some one to prey on, you will know him because he give's you a price and doesn't turn his meter on, he is a one individual that makes the whole Philippines look like they are all crooked. Stay 17 day's.

The tune hotel is located on the north side of the makati district. It defines the term utility but it actually does so fairly well and for the most part comfortably. Just don't go expecting any extras or favors.

The room I rented was a total of 134 usd including tax on agoda for the first three nights and this was all inclusive of wifi as well. Agoda is the preferred website for Philippines hotels incidentally. A single subsequent night, a Friday, was around 60 usd. Compared to other options in the area such as the makati palace hotel, the three day rate was a very good deal.

The room is just big enough to hold the queen bed and have a walkway around it. There is no room for a luggage stand and there is no closet. That being said both the bed Area and the bath are spotlessly clean though you may want to remind them to make up the bed as they neglected to do so during one day of my stay. Each day you pick up a new wifi code and yes a new towel and toiletry kit from the front desk and turn in your old one. If you lose your key there is a three dollar plus replacement cost.

Connected to the hotel is a reasonably sports bar showing cricket and European and American football games. Decent food and reasonable and friendly Philippine style service. Also it's quiet enough for informal business meeting and usually plenty of room to open a laptop.

Other than that and that te wifi is pretty slow which is standard for most Manila hotels the place was quiet and the bed and bedding were comfortable. It's a bit away from Burgos street so you won't be harrassed by street hawkers et al but close enough that the "nightlife" is a few minutes walk away.

I normally use Ibis Hotels when I am not use to a city and have to say that Tune is nearly as good. You have to pay for all the extras like a/c, wifi, towels and soap, late check out, but even with this its cheap. A bit annoying was that there's a different wifi login everyday and its slow anyway, so if in a rush in the morning you may achieve very little. I wanted to see how Man City had got on, but after 30 minutes had accomplished nothing and had to leave.
Room are smaller than an Ibis and there's no wardrobe, but in other respects very similar. The a/c's are just domestic split systems which make a huge noise and must cost a fortune to run in the Philippines.
I found all staff to be extremely friendly, although my room never got cleaned one day. The security/door staff are particularly accommodating at finding taxis etc..
Next door is a reasonably priced sports bar (part of the hotel actually) that's open 24:7. It's very friendly and actually is a great asset to the hotel. Of course much of the sport is American, but travelling is about the experience and they do have the Premier League on a fair bit. Food is international, but mostly American standards, I wouldn't recommend a trip to the Philippines if you are looking for a food experience.
The immediate area around the hotel may not suit everyone (especially families) and reminded me of those run down areas next to the CBD that characterised US cities in the 1980s (in fact a lot like Cincinnati in the 1980s). For those wanting a little life its really a part of the Burgos Street area, close to the lady boy end. But there are some nice bars along Burgos (I liked Cubana and Wow, Wow, Wow) where you can watch life go by. Of course you will be hassled by ladyboys, ladies and street sellers selling fake Viagra, fake Nike and the sort of belts that Texans love.
However, the hotel is also very close to Makati's CBD and within walking distance of Green Belt (with the wonderful, but always busy Café Havana). For some real luxury get a taxi to BGC which has a lovely mid Atlantic feel to it. Even downtown Manila was not as expected and reminded me of Miami.
Taxis are an issue in this part of Makati even though plentiful. Many refuse to take you where you want to go and refuse to use the meter. But you get use to it and as I say the door staff are very good.
Would I stay at Tune again, most certainly, would I stay at this Tune again, yes of course. Would I pay $5 a night more for an Ibis, maybe.

Room Tip: I think they are all identical so its just a question of which floor. Theoretically the low floors...

I would recommend this hotel if you're not fussy about the hotel luxuries like a proper bath, hot water kettle, writing desk and such. I would say it might be a better choice compared to the other hotels within the price range around the same area. Pros & Cons as below :)

Pros:
- for the price I paid, I felt that the quality of bedding and pillows were very good
- the toilet was sparkling clean
- tons of restaurant, fast food, convenience store and pubs/bar choice within walking distance.

Cons:
- limited space to move around
- the actual location in not on the main street of Makati Ave, you have to walk in about.. 200 meters to reach the hotel. You'd have to walk past a local residential neighborhood, this might be an issue for some.
- the enclosure for the shower area is only about a feet wide of glass. You end up getting the rest of the toilet floor wet after a bath

We had an overnight in Manila on the way to Coron.
Hotel booked online with no problems.

The plus side was it was clean, fairly modern, and efficient.

Staff were below the National scale of "service minded".

The negative side was the rooms were so small. We travel light and even then had problems stowing our baggage off the floor. the worst bit was the noise. Noise from the lifts was bad, but the fire doors make a slamming noise everytime someone passes through and it went on all night. I awoke feeling far from refreshed. The other occupants could also be heard snoring, farting and shouting most the night.I think the place has cardboard walls.
i can put up with basic accomodation if it is cheap but if you value your sleep then look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Disable the fire doors if you can, or you will not sleep.

This hotel is ideally located in the heart of Makati city, Manila. The hotel is modern, the staff very friendly and helpful, there is good free wifi and the rooms are clean and comfortable. However the rooms are very small and lack any kind of storage space. Ideal for 1 or 2 nights
