My wife and I reside in Makati 6 months of the year and this is one of our favourite restaurants. It can be a little tricky to find but a good tip is that it is opposite Murphy's Irish Pub. The food is excellent. The decor is classy and comfortable. There is usually live entertainment on Fridays. The Italian food here is a lot better than that which we have had in Italy.

It's a hole in the wall! I was just doing my regular night walking in legaspi village and accidentally passed by this resto.. Anyways, im a big fan of soups, so i tried their seafood soup (im not sure about the exact name) and it's really good.. Sort of having a tum yum (thai soup) but a bit lighter and it really cleanses the palate. I like the spinach ravioli and how the sour tasting tomato based sauce compliments the dish. The ambiance is really cozy. The kind of place you would want to go on a date! They have live music (sort of jazz and old love songs) which adds up to the romantic vibe of the place. (;

I love eating in la grotta . Food is really great. My favorite is there panini which is served uniquely and there Vongole cooked with truffle oil! Price is affordable and serving is big! It is a small place with good ambiance also good for first dates.

La Grotta is a very popular lunchtime venue for office workers in the Makati CBD. The servings are big and the prices are low. The service is good but the noise levels are too high (typical of Manila).
The pizza bread was old and chewy, served with a tiny knob of butter and a saucer of olive (?) oil smeared with balsamic vinegar. The house salad was big and mainly OK (the usual smattering of wilted leaves though) and contained unforgiveable processed mozzarella! I ordered the Chicken Vesuvius which turned out to be a slab of seared, bone-dry meat slathered with a vegeable and tomato sauce, Oh, and some more processed cheese. It was virtually inedible. Big, cheap....but inedible.
The brewed coffee was "stewed" coffee and most unpleasant.

So, this is not a retaurant to visit with an Italian friend. (Or any friend, for that matter.)
