Called Midas 3 hours before check in time to confirm my reservation and to request for a room with a view. When I got there the receptionist advised me that they upgraded our room from deluxe to executive with no extra charge. :)
The room is very nice with a small veranda and view of Manila Bay. The king size bed was very comfortable, but I found the bath tub too small, I am not complaining but I think other guests will have a problem with that.
Everything was perfect except when one of the staff just opened our door around 4pm (using extra key) without even knocking or checking if there are guests inside!
The staff just said sorry and told me he will bring cookies.
And since I dont want to ruin our stay I just ignored what happened. But my patience got tested again the following day. My husband and I decided to have breakfast at 8am so before leaving I called housekeeping and requested to clean the room. But to my surprise the room was not even touched when we got back by 9:30. I called housekeeping again and I was told that since we're only staying for one night and we will need to check out by 12nn they will not clean our room.... Whaaaattt??? I explained to the lady that I am just requesting to clean our room and not to change the beddings or towels because we ordered food from their restaurant and the plates are still there on the table. The lady eventually said yes, someone will go to our room and will do light cleaning.
If the hotel guest will request to clean the room, is it too much to ask? Other 5star hotel will always make sure that your room was cleaned and you have a comfortable stay, but with Midas? I dont think so.. I think since this hotel mostly caters to casino players they are not giving excellent customer service. Maybe they think that casino players wont mind if the room was clean or not. But Midas should also consider other guests.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Midas Hotel and Casino is the newest design-led lifestyle hotel situated along Roxas Boulevard at the coast of Manila Bay. The hotel is flocked by the Japanese Embassy and San Juan de Dios Hospital. It faces the Bay, a few meters from the intersection of Roxas Boulevard and EDSA. In the tradition of excellence set by the building's former occupants, The Sheraton, Savoy Philippines and Hyatt Regency Manila, this 225-room hotel continues to be THE venue for creating fond memories. Certain details of the original structure have been kept and integrated into the redesign of the building's interiors, creating a fusion of the past and the present in perfect harmony. May it be an end-of-day glass of wine or a cocktail to jumpstart a promising evening, the 2702 Lobby Lounge is definitely the place to go to and be seen at. Aside from the wide selection of cocktails, shooters, liqueurs, wines, and hard spirits, the 2702 Lounge also offers tasty treats and nibbles that will complement whatever drink is at hand. Culinary masters converge at the Midas Cafe to offer guests the ultimate dining experience ever.
