“Simple modern nice hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 September 2013

A simple modern hotel.Pretty convenient...in between airport and town.As you walk into the small lobby the cafe which serves buffett for breakfast is on the left.Had a look and it was quite nice though i did not take it.The reception is directly in front. As usual from the filipino staffs...all very friendly and welcoming.Quick efficient and polite checkin.
Room was on the 17th floor...quite big and spacious.Facing the marina....and the usual traffic chaos. But noise was minimised and i could hardly hear any traffic except for the odd revving up.
Clean and modern....similar in decor to Grand Hyatt/Crown Plaza style.Black white and brown hues.Big bed that had the right firmness and big pillow.
Bathroom was on the small side but still adequate enough to move around. There is only a rain shower from the ceiling and no alternative shower head. The only glitch was that the drainage of water was very slow and after a few minutes...my ankles were swimming in soapy water.
The room service menu was limited in choice.I ordered the mushroom cuppacino soup and the japanese beef curry. Both were not good.Soup was watery and had hardly any mushroom taste. The beef curry didnt taste anything like the original version and the beef had a very strong "beefy" smell and taste. My colleagues ordered the italian minestrone and spaghetti and they said it was quite good so i guess i made the wrong choice. However the portions for the meals was very generous and big.
Surely a recommended hotel if one doesnt want to stay in a bigger and more glitzy hotel in downtown.

To start with the positive: rooms are very nice, modern and ours even had a bay view

However, considering that it is in the Philippines it is just so completely overpriced, and everything is extra charges
We even made the mistake and booked (expensive) breakfast. I am traveling in such business hotels a fair bit, but hardly ever found such a poor selection. Even worth, all dishes that were supposed to be hot were cold, as they have been sitting there for ages.
Discussions with the staff about the again extremely limited selection of eg tea (black/green?! in a supposed to be by Shangri-La??!!) is the last thing that you want/ expect in a 4+ Star Hotel in the morning!

Overall the service staff seems to lack training. very disappointing in regards to perfection and quality.

I had a wonderful time. I had a restful sleep. I had a refreshing stay. It was truly great. If given the chance, I would love to stay there again. Thanks for the great accomodation, courteous staff and good food.

Traders seems to have different version of outlook , even though they are under Shang's mgmt. Having used to the up chic looking of Traders KL, I wasn't sure what to expect here. Anyway, don't be surprised to be greeted by a big black dog, to sniff your bags !!

Small lobby but nice, fast service, have a plesantly big room. Unfortunately was out with King Size beds, I am quite surprised as don't see this hotel as couples' hotel. Great internet service, like the sofa, like the working table and in actual fact, like it all.

Small bathroom but that's fine. Pool is small, but this is not a resort, a city hotel or rather the Bay area hotel.

Easy to get cabs as well, and oh.... they are near to Mall of Asia too !!! so Ladies... don't worry about staying out of nowhere, as just get into the cab and to the mall !

Excellent services from the concierge / door man. Been to this hotel twice, the same old man is still there and smiley as ever.

Room Tip: Any room would be good I guess.

I stayed for 2 nights, one night in a King club room and one night in a suite (writing this in suite 1602). Both rooms were clean and in great condition. The club lounge is spacious and comfortable.

Though the immediate surroundings of the hotel are not so great, Mall of Asia is just a short taxi ride away as are several other places of interest. Very convenient if you need to visit the US embassy.

The staff are friendly and efficient, especially in the club lounge.

I will certainly stay here again.
