“New hotel, will be good when it's finished”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

I spent a week here in June 2014, but apparently the hotel will not be officially opened until July.
It is well located for where I wanted to be, near our branch office and near the customers.
There are a lot of problems some of them well I guess be fixed, others I'm not so sure. The main ones for me, in no particular order are:
1) Gym not open - And there's no way I'm going outside for a run (heat, humidity and above all pollution)
2) Crazy lift system - There is no call button and they have someone on every floor 24/7 to call the lift operators on a Walky Talky - Very inefficient
3) Top floor Bar not open – I guess this will be fixed.
4) Beer served in a can! – How can a 4 star hotel serve a Heineken in a can???
5) Construction work in hotel – Some mornings on leaving the room there was a fog of dust from polishing floors or something. This is really unhealthy and had several of us causing allergy problems
6) The guy at the airport picking me up decided to wait in another place from where all the other hotel reps are – Not too smart
7) On the two occasions I ordered room service they made a mistake both times – The first night they forgot the prawn on the “Caesar Salad with Prawns” (didn’t spot it when he brought it up and couldn’t be bothered to complain) and the second they brought White wine instead of Red (caught that one in time)
8) Crazy electrical system, after a week in the room I still hadn’t mastered the lighting switches.
9) In the restaurant while we were eating the buffet the waitress offered to prepare a lobster. What she didn’t tell us was that it wasn’t included in the buffet.
10) The working space in the room is just below the AC outlet. After an hour or so there I was frozen!
11) Did I mention the beer coming in the can already?

However there are a lot of good points as well:
1) Big, clean, comfortable, well equipped room: Multi format sockets, Nespresso machine
2) Big comfortable bed
3) Buffet food excellent (we really needed the gym after overeating there)
4) A wine buffet!
5) Friendly helpful staff
6) No problems giving me a late checkout

In summary it could be a great hotel when it’s finished, but they need to work on the details

Excellent service and cleanliness. Close to all malls and bargain department stores like St Francis who have real pearls and designer brand bags and shoes. Also close to other shopping venues for the hearty for the hearty shoppers.

Location at the central business office of Ortigas, near Robinson mall and sm mega mall. Great lobby, and restaurant.Good quality of food and many choices especially for kids and don't forget to try there fresh orange juice.During our stay we avail there soft opening promo with free buffet breakfast and 800 pesos gift certificate which you can use for restaurant. Upon check out you can also avail there extension check out until 7pm for free, upon availability. Customer service is at best. Clean, big room, good choice of furniture with city view. The only downside of these hotel is the elevator, from entrance you will transfer to lobby from lobby you will be transfer to your room..it takes longer time. Trash can bin in toilet area,no cover. Overall, I will be back again to spend staycation if there pool will open soon.

Room Tip: Room with cityview

Stayed in the Marco Polo for a short week in May, on a business trip. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Nespresso machine in the room, rain shower, safe, etc. Good desk and international electrical outlets (2), so no need for plug adaptors. Fair buffet at the restaurant.

Two really annoying features stand out:
1. The elevators are operated by "lift boys" (except they are girls), summoned by staff with walky talky on each floor. In other words, no "lift call" button. This is really slow and inefficient, so count on standing around with a growing number of people any time you need to go to your room, ground floor or reception/restaurant floor.
2. I was asked for a credit card imprint on check in, as usual. Was then tracked down in the restaurant for a second credit card imprint as they had forgotten to include the room cost in the authorization, and had only done the incidentals charge. Was then asked for a third imprint after a business dinner because I paid for the full table and the hotel was apparently nervous about the fact I had charged the equivalent of $200. When I refused the third use of my card I was switched to "immediate payment" mode for the remainder of my stay. Not the best move for a business hotel.

Marco Polo helps keep competition on their toes; with many five star hotels in Manila ageing; and seriously overcharging for rooms, having newer properties help drive prices of rooms down.
Located along Meralco Avenue in Mandaluyong area, its near SM Megamall but yet a bit too far to walk. Nearest mall is the Robinsons Galleria; also a 10-15 minutes walk. Therefore, more suitable as a business hotel or one where you're comfortable taking a taxi or have your own car.
Room is new and nice; although being super new; they're still not too sure about things, i.e. some cabinets in room awkwardly placed; chairs blocking the cabinet opening, etc.
Also, the elevators are confusing, since reception is not on ground floor; and you'll need to change escalators twice to move up to the rooms.
As they have not yet fully launch, some minor construction is on-going, and a bit of noise in the day time.
Breakfast is pretty decent; although the nearby EDSA Shangrila serves better ones.

My husband and I, together with our 3 year old, stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, felt so comfortable and cared for, that we extended another night. (April 17-20, 2014)

Check-in and Check-out: Quick, easy and friendly. My daughter got a Princess bag with a coloring book and some crayons.

Elevators: Not all elevators were operational at that time. Security on each floor was quick to radio for elevators although some were still confused as to the parking levels. Signages iin the elevator lobbies for the parking levels would be helpful.

Rooms: We were given a corner room which was comfortable and very spacious. View was the rooftop of the neighboring building so we kept our curtains closed. The bed was perfection and a pillow menu was even provided although we didn't need to change the pillows they provided.

Housekeeping was also quick to respond when we needed help in adjusting the airconditioner.

The bathroom was well-appointed, large, and very clean. My only gripe was the narrow counter with the bulky amenities box which did not leave much room for our own toiletries. I do love however, that a hair tie was included in the amenities box. A minor, yet thoughtful and much-appreciated item.

I must also mention that the drainage in the shower was very good and the idea of having a long strip of drainage on the side as compared to the usual square one at the center is a great idea and adds to the streamlined look of the bath.

Free and fast wi-fi in the room was also a big plus.

Cucina: Breakfast at this outlet was pretty good. There was enough variety every day to satisfy our family and our invited guests. Cereals and breads for the toddler, savory meats and fish dishes for the rice eaters, and there was enough fresh fruit, yogurt and and assortment of cold cuts for those who wanted a lighter fare.

Service was always with a smile. A shout-out to a very friendly server named Marv who was always quick to respond to our needs.

Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We look forward to visiting again when the hotel is fully operational.

We stayed at Marco Polo Ortigas from May 2-5. I highly recommend this 5-star hotel especially to those who have young children.

1. The location was very accessible. There's a lot of taxi available if you need to go to SM Megamall or Podium. It's only 15-minute away (60-80 pesos cab fare) from greenhills where you could buy cheap clothes and native products as souveniers.

2. They have a very good security. They write down the cab info and they also have a K-9 as an added security.

3. The bed was very comfy. The bathroom was very clean and well designed. We needed a place where we could have a relaxing night after a very long flight, Marco Polo definitely exceeded our expectations.

4. Buffet breakfast was superb. They have a section for fruits, noodles and soups, egg station, bread, smoothies, filipino, and international cuisine. We extremely loved the adobo, tapa, bread pudding, and ensaymada. The servers were very attentive to our needs.

5. The internet connection was fast. We always had strong signal inside the hotel or our room.

6. Hassle-free Check-in and Check-out.

Overall, an excellent hotel in Ortigas. We will surely stay at Marco Polo Ortigas when we visit Manila again.
