We went to Chemas in July 2008. We just sent the owner a text message and everything was booked for us. He msg-ed us the pricelist of his cottages before we went there as well.

When we arrived, we got a very special treatment. Luckily, no other people were booked there during our stay and therefore we had the resort all to ourselves. We stayed there 2-3 nights as we enjoyed it so much.

The cabanas were beautiful. Clean. Air conditioned. And even had books for you to read and DVDs for you to watch if you prefer staying in. (But why would you?)

The owner stayed with us every evening and he always treated us to beer. He also suggested to us the tasty dishes which we also tried. The owner was sooo fun and accommodating, we really enjoyed our time spent there.

We felt like we had our own 'servants' as they were only a 'ding' away. There was a bell on our cottage, which when we 'dinged', someone would come to us to offer their service. This was grreeat!!

We also enjoyed the infinity pool and the beach. They were beautiful. As martial artists, we invited our trainor for a day and trained at the beach. That was great too.

Service - excellent. View - Excellent. Food - excellent. A bit pricey but WELL WORTH it!! We definitely recommend Chemas to everyone!

The cabanas are surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The collection of plants, flowers, and trees is very good. If you want peace and quiet and totally relaxing place, Chema's is for you. Has beach with beige colored fine sand and infinity pool filled with sea water. We enjoyed both! The owner is kind and gracious. He spent time with us and made sure we enjoyed the place. The staff are nice, efficient, and always smiling. Very easy to book....just text the owner. We planned to stay overnight only and then try another resort. We packed our bags the following day and left but came back as the other resorts didn't measure up in terms of value for money. Stayed for 2 more days. The only rules that are usually violated accdg. to the staff are proper swimming pool attire and no bringing of food and drinks. Check out their facebook for the rules so you know. We didn't have problem with those... they are reasonable rules for us. We had such an enjoyable time. Chema's serve Filipino food. Try their kinilaw (ceviche), longganisa, fried bangus, pakbet. and sisig. You can go to the Bat Cave and the falls (the staff contacted a multicab) and along the way as suggested by the owner, we went to a quaint restaurant which served pasta, pizza, and other Euro food. Quite an enjoyable, relaxing, and memorable first visit to Samal Island.
