Description: Mediterranean Cuisine. Claude’s serves the best steaks in town. Their steaks are perfectly cooked to the diner’s specifications with a choice of pepper or mushroom sauce. It can also be served with either mashed potatoes, or the more popular choice, rice. Other crowd-drawers are their appetizers, salads and soups. Some appetizers which deserve to be mentioned are their salmon pate and shrimp cocktail. The pate is served with lightly toasted sliced French bread while the cocktail is full of fresh shrimp smothered with light dressing and a helping of tomatoes and avocados. Their ceasar’s salad is also easily one of the best I’ve tasted in the city.

Claude's Café de Ville is a magnificent restaurant housed in an old mansion right in the busy city centre. It's a beautiful and tasteful oasis in a dusty, chaotic area of town.
And the beauty of it all, the quality of the food actually matches the surroundings.
It's such a pleasant surprise to find authentic, classy French food in this little corner of the world.
During the holiday season Claude offers some really rare treats such as calve's head or couscous royale (with delicious merguez) on top of his standard menu.
The foie gras at Claude's is small and pricy but truly sublime, certainly one of the best i've had in the Philippines. And i found the other items on his menu reasonably priced for the quality offered.
Service is competent and attentive, a rarity in this country, and Claude himself watches over everything.
The only negative thing i could say about Claude's is that the wine list exclusively French and therefore bad value. The house wine is good but at a hefty 1150 Php it better be and there are no better value new world wines on the menu.
Nevertheless, the existance of a gem like Claude's in this remote, underappreciated city is very appreciated.

I regret not having been to Claude's the years I have been visiting Davao. I went early this month and was impressed not only by the ambience, the service, of Claude himself and of course, the food. I am SO glad they are NOT the pretentious (French) restaurant which other restaurants in Davao actually are. More importantly, I am proud that Claude takes feedback well and is not defensive to the shortcomings of his excellent restaurant.
We ordered their legendary pepper steak, cured tanguingue and profiteroles. Each and every dish, highly commendable.
Claude's is a short taxi ride from Marco Polo and is such a respite from busy Davao traffic.

Exhausted from shopping and haggling at Aldevinco center where I bought some T-shirts and some sweetwater pearls, I walked a few blocks along busy Jeepney traffic and small street sellers.
In Rizal Street, opposite the Manila Bulletin office, there is a small garden with an old colonial style building: Claude's.

Had coffee and cheesecake.
Nothing big.
But it left an impression - and a decision: I will come back soon to try their dinner menu.

With their great food, romantic ambiance, hospitable and helpful service staff, Claude's is an ideal place for a romantic dinner date.

A group of singers with string instruments hop from table to table to serenade their guests. They are very familiar with Elvis and Beatles songs so feel free to ask them to sing your favorite Elvis or Beatles song.
