We found this hotel on tripadvisor after experiencing two other hotels that were closer to downtown. We wish we found this one in the beginning. No issues with the stay. Food was good. Rooms were nice. The hotel is set back from the main road, so it is a little quieter. The room price was fair. This will be our first choice when coming back to Davao.

Room Tip: Book early, we walked in and couldn't get the exact dates we needed, but they were accommodating...

May I suggest two things : kindly have the water dispenser in the conference room ready, filled and plugged, and if you can refrain from eating in the lobby/receiving area as the food smell will envelope the entire lobby...though i don't mind and i do love the smell, other non-filipino guests might find it unappealing..

Cafe food is very good, well prepared and well seasoned...staff were very accommodating with our requests and had a very can-do attitude which was superb..very good value for money...all in all, i do recommend and will use their service again =)

Great for people with a ride or are going to tours and would like to stay just for the night! Short 5 min cab ride to sm lanang and robinsons cybergate. City proper is a bit far from the hotel based on a davao based standard/perspective. If u are from manila, it'd be a short ride. Overall excellent service and hotel.. They are already constructing a pool for additional amenity..

I never expected that I will get a very enjoyable stay in your hotel for I only want a place to stay after a long drive from Cagayan de Oro City. The staff were very gracious and accomodating. The entrance to the hotel was a little bit deceiving because of the bare land in front and it looked small from afar, but when you get inside you can see the great beauty of the hotel by blending landscaping with the contour of the buildings. The room is quite large and very clean and can be compared to a three/four star hotel with half the amount you pay. A very good choice when you just surf the internet for a place to stay and found a paradise. Thank you!

Lovely service, everyone very attentive and helpful, rooms OK, notexactly luxurious by any stretch of the imagination but great value. Comfortable, and good WiFi throughout, although perhaps a tad intermittent. The problem is that when you leave the room everything electrical goes off, so no COOL, no charging of phones/laptops, and I'm not sure if my fridge ever worked, or if it just went off with everything else when you left the room. A teaspoon can go in the slot to keep the leccy on if you're careful, but obviously the maid removes it when they service the room.
A cunning guest will tip the maid to clean your room while you're having breakfast, then sneakily do the teaspoon trick post-brekkie before departing for a hard day in the heat/humidity of downtown Davao.
The downside if you're a smoker (I am so afflicted) is that you have to go and stand on the side of the drive to enjoy Mr Philip Morris's finest. Which is kinda OK ...if it isn't raining. But you do get to admire the telephone wires and open junction boxes on the wall by the smokers exile section, which amazingly seem to work despite constant sousing in the soft warm Davao rain. You can't even take a beer down into the garden whilst evaluating the handiwork of John Player or even Mr Monte Cristo, as they shout at you quite insistently. As for relaxing on the OUTDOOR terrace with a cooling libation and a crafty fag.... forget it.
Breakfasts are good, but if you want TWO eggs then you have to be prepared for a major paperwork exercise, in triplicate.
All in all, probably good value for money, and good facilities for NON smokers.....

Room Tip: Not sure as I only tried one.....

Overall, Tropika Hotel is an excellent, comfortable and reasonably priced hotel to stay in Davao. With spacious ground facilities its garden event venue for outdoor parties is outstanding! I would suggest the hotel does not put a swimming pool as its outdoor garden venue is good enough. The rooms have windows with good view. I have been staying at Tropika for 2 years now (2012-13) every time I go on business trips to Mindanao areas. I highly recommend Tropika Hotel for business, private and event venue!

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor are easily accessible from the lobby.

I'm very picky about hotels, and this is one of the best I've stayed in. Great value for money, very friendly and helpful staff, good restaurant with green outdoor area, clean and quiet, environmentally friendly (no little bottles of water in the room, instead a big water dispenser in the hall), nice big desk with electrical outlets on top so easy to reach, nice furniture/furnishings, shower did not get the whole floor wet. Buffet breakfast could be improved.

Room Tip: there is no elevator so If you don't want extra exercise, choose a ground level or first floor r...
