“an oasis perfect for a budget”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

I booked Bahay ni Tuding Inn with Booking.Com but made direct contact with the staff after. They responded to my email promptly.

The Inn is in the center of the city near the city hall and the main street where jeepneys (local mode of transport) pass. The is very convenient for local transportation. Because the entrance is in a side street, we did not hear the hustle and bustle. The Inn has a porch near the reception area and a balcony on the second floor where we relaxed and enjoyed the breeze after a day of going around.

Our group got a single and a double. The rooms are clean and the beds are firm. The air conditioning was perfect for the warm weather.

The staff is very friendly. They give us tips to go around the city. They are very open to suggestions.

As mentioned in previous reviews, the breakfast is something they could improve on. They can easily increase their prices a bit to cover the cost of breakfast

Most of the hotels in Davao claim a half day rate and some 1 day rate once you checked in early, as early as 4:00 am provided you have to checked out at their required time (either 12noon, 1pm or 2pm). When I inquire in Bahay ni Tuding, I'm so glad they don't have this policy, you can checked-in as early as 4am and checked-out at 2pm on the next day with no additional cost on their daily rate. We only booked for 1 day in deluxe room. The location is very very good, it is not totally situated at the front of the highway, so we cannot hear the noises of the busy streets outside. It is located near fast foods, drugstores, parks, restaus, church and walking distance to some malls. For the hotel interiors, it has a very Filipino style designs and our room is so clean. We totally loved the place. And also, rates are very affordable

After doing some research for a decent, clean, good valued guest house in Davao City. I made my final choice to stay here. I did the booking through Asia Rooms as it was lower rates than directly booking with the hotel reservation. I stayed in single room. I can say the room is neat and bathroom is clean with the amenities available. I am happy with the room on what I paid, only I find the room light is too dim for me. If there is a way to make it more bright would be better I guess especially when you want to read something, it is really dim. Thank you so much to all the staffs, they we're all very friendly and accommodating making my stay comfortable.

The breakfast is only bread and jam and hot drink. If you need a heavy one, you may order it separately.

Only steps away the Mercury Drugstore/Pharmacy opened 24hrs. The San Pedro Cathedral and Restaurants and Rizal Park.

Over all, I will recommend this hotel. It is good if you are in budget and looking a safe, clean and quite place to stay over.

After a year's interval I returned to the House of Tuding to find it even better than when I first stayed. The rooms have had the odd nicety added, the staff continue to be friendly and helpful and the hotel remains an oasis of peace and quiet just off San Pedro Street, and therefore in the centre of the action.
My only criticism is that the breakfast could be improved; even a self service continental option needs staff about the place to explain and replenish.

It was mentioned in a previous review that this is Davao's best kept secret. After staying for 2 nights, i was convinced it really is. The inn is located at the heart of Davao City, just a few meters from the city hall and Rizal Park. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The only drawback is the complimentary breakfast composed of coffee, bread and butter which they called "continental breakfast" ??? they should have added a few hundred pesos per room and provided for a decent breakfast.

For a solo traveller and frequent Davao City visitor, House of Tuding is the most recommended in terms of cost, location, amenities, and overall services. Strategically located right in the heart of Davao's busy city government centers, the hotel is almost just across Davao City Hall, the Rizal Park where all cultural activities in Davao were held, the Provincial Capitol, the San Pedro Cathedral. What truly satisfied me during my stay was the early morning continental breakfast consisting of unlimited coffee and loaf or pandesal with marmalade and butter for free! Rooms are simple and very clean. Each floor has a veranda where you can sit and relax. The reception area and hallways are decorated in native Mindanao motifs. Then, there are items which were original parts and decors of the old house owned by Tuding' family. There's even a photo of Tuding in the hotel lobby.
