“Budget hotel with good position”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2012

The best thing of this hotel is for sure the position next to Ayala Mall, you can arrive there just crossing the street, rooms are spacious and clean even if a bit old maybe, staff is nice and friendly. I think i't a very good average hotel with a reasonable price 2000 pesos included breakfast, it's not really a 5 stars but i recomend it especially for families.

This hotel has an awesome location to Ayala Mall. Just 5 minutes walk across the street and around the corner. Save money on transportation and find tens of different places to eat or shop.

Taxi from the airport will cost around 250PHP with normal taxi, airport taxi around 400PHP.
Basic amenities but slightly changing breakfast buffet was a nice surprise.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better due to busy street traffic noise.

I stayed here overnight, and had a huge room with free internet connection. At the price paid, I was easily content. But the linen and towels need to be changed already. The room is also showing age already, and the TV can be upgraded to a flat screen one. Proximity to Ayala mall is a plus point. Taxis are also waiting just in front of the hotel.

Having booked over a month in advance and confirmed the booking the day before, a group of 9 of us arrived at 20:00 to find our rooms had been given away to someone else. Strange as we had been picked up from the airport by the hotel - so they knew we were coming. This is fair enough - as hotels have to make decisions to make more money sometimes e.g. we suspect they had given it to someone with a long term booking, but it was the attitude of how they dealt with us that stung. They could/should have offered us better rooms at the same rate - however they put us in worse rooms at more expensive rates , which of course, at 20:00 we had no choice but to pay for (in advance of course), or otherwise face being out on the street for the night - pure extortion. The next morning we asked to see the manager, which we were told we couldn't !!

Otherwise, rooms ok, I guess, 3* quality, clean, basic, lots of secondary sales going on in the room with signs everywhere trying to get more money from you. Breakfast basic and very tired. Cebu is a big city with a lot of nice hotels - why spoil your trip going to this one?

Reserved for 3 pax but a few friends joined in, there were 7 of us and the hotel accommodated us easily even if we checked in late, they called us everytime to follow up. upgraded us to a 2 bedroom suite for a good rate. it's right in the middle of the city, walking distance ayala mall. the staff were pleasant, breakfast could be better though.

so the price was right and i looked at a couple of rooms before deciding which room to have. the price came with free breakfast and free wifi so i couldn't complain. the check in went smoothly and the all the staff were very professional and friendly.

the rooms aren't anything to write home about. they were ok. there were 3 of us staying in the room and i got the fold up bed. very soft and not that comfortable, but hey, better than sleeping on the floor!

we stayed there 1 night and then we checked out the next day and left our luggage with the hotel as we were coming back the next day to check in. This was really handy and what was nice was when we came back, they remembered us straight away and checked us into our room even though it wasn't technically check in time yet.

it's close to the mall so handy for shopping, eating, the movies, etc.

one bad thing though was the coffee and tea in the room weren't complimentary, but i never usually drink the coffee or tea anyways, so not much complaint here. i'd rather have the breakfast than the tea or coffee.

Room Tip: if you get a chance, always look at the rooms available and pick which one suits you.

I have stayed at the Golden Prince Hotel in Cebu, and I also brought 6 of my friends with me as well, and we all had the absolute best time there during our stay in Cebu City, but please keep in mind that this is an economy accommodation hotel, and it is very reasonably priced for worldly travellers, and this hotel is very conveniently located near to the Ayala Shopping Mall, and there is a nearby coffee shop and bar which is just across the road, but it is really close to the hotel front door, so as far as I am concerned, it was a good location in Cebu City.

I have read some of the reviews, and I must say that some of them are a bit unfair, because this is not a 4 star hotel, so people should not expect 4 star service and luxury from this real economical and tidy hotel, because this hotel does not have all the fancy dressings like one of those 4 star hotels, neither does it pretend to be a 4 star hotel, but I can honestly say that the Golden Prince Hotel does offer very comfortable simple rooms, it has a nice restaurant and bar in the foyer, and there is a nice buffet breakfast in the mornings for patrons to eat.

When you consider what you pay per night to stay there, then I think its definately real good value for your dollar, so if you keep all this in mind, then I think you will appreciate this hotel.

There is a lot of site seeing in Cebu, so the only time you will be in your room is when you go to sleep in the evenings, or when you go and have a shower in the mornings, and at the end of the day, because most of the time you will be sight seeing around cebu City, ok guys!

The Golden Prince Hotel Cebu, is truly a golden experience, but at an affordable price, and
I would suggest this hotel to all of my friends, because it is comfortable accommodation.

P.S. If you book this hotel, please give my regards to the Manager 'Aaron', thankyou!

Room Tip: The twin share accommodation romms are very good for 2 travellers!
