The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House is one in a triad of house-museums in the old Parian district of Cebu City. It dates from the 17th century and is thus one of the, if not the oldest continuously lived-in house in the country. As such it is a living museum. The other houses are Casa Gorordo and the Parian Museum, which is situation in a rather strange location, in a bodega.
The house has been lovingly restored and contains myriad antiques from the Spanish Colonial era. Try to be there when the owner Val Sandiego is around, he will give you a tour like no other. The house-museum is similar to other small museums in Europe and is a delight. Other museums like this should be encouraged, specially in Cebu, which was totally destroyed by American bombing during World War II.
Not to be missed.

Great example of a house carried down through generations with various cultural influences. I particularly admired the way the family had opened it up to the public without cost and the guides were only to happy to volunteer to take photos as well as ones utilizing clever optical illusions. Well worth seeing.

Luckily this place has been preserved and withstood typhoons, earthquakes and progress for hundreds of years! Well located near other historic venues, and still in part time use, it's definitely worth a look-see and to hear the history.

What a fantastic place!
It is a trip to the core of the Philippines culture and is beautifully preserved.
It is a MUST if you come visit Cebu.
They have a very friendly staff in situ and there is a small fee to access.
Do not miss...! it is very interesting from the architecture point of view also.
