“Historical and symbolical!”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

It would be very interesting had it been the original cross. Nothing really amusing in the place except for the fact that it is historical. And it symbolizes the birth of the Catholic faith in the region. What caught my attention is the beautiful ceiling painting, and oh the old women dancing sinulog for each prayers they utter. But as they say, all who visit Cebu must see the cross!

“Give this one a miss”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Unless you are driving right past it and want to stop in, I really wouldn't bother. Just a large wooden cross with many candle sellers surrounding it. I understand it's a piece of history but you won't be missing anything if you don't go.

“Worth the visit if you're into history.”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

The structure itself looks average and not maintained properly. Its the historical significance of the cross that is worth the visit. Vendors are a bit pushy.

“Rather underwhelming”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

Earthquakes notwithstanding, Magellan's cross whilst obviously important is nothing much to write about. Supposedly it is encased inside another cross structure and so you are not looking at the real one at all. Pity!

“The cross of Magellan”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

The original cross that Magellan placed on the shores of Cebu is encased in this structure. The location was once a beach head where they landed and was met by the local chieftain.
