Due to an earthquake, wooden structure was put up to support the
monument, thus making the place looks more wood than original.

It would be very interesting had it been the original cross. Nothing really amusing in the place except for the fact that it is historical. And it symbolizes the birth of the Catholic faith in the region. What caught my attention is the beautiful ceiling painting, and oh the old women dancing sinulog for each prayers they utter. But as they say, all who visit Cebu must see the cross!

Unless you are driving right past it and want to stop in, I really wouldn't bother. Just a large wooden cross with many candle sellers surrounding it. I understand it's a piece of history but you won't be missing anything if you don't go.

The structure itself looks average and not maintained properly. Its the historical significance of the cross that is worth the visit. Vendors are a bit pushy.
