Although the building is damaged from the last earthquake I recommend you go and see this historical place when visiting Cebu. Taxi fare is extremely cheap so take a ride and visit.

Even if you are not a person who love history, this place is a must to visit because this is the landmark of Cebu. Unfortunately, the place was under renovation when we visited it. It was slightly damaged during the earthquake. Proceed to Sto. Nino basilica right at the back.

This is for history buffs. What I was told is that the original cross is encased inside the current cross for preservation. It is a very small place in the middle of the city. Good to visit and confirm its place in the history of Spanish exlporation and the start of the colonization of the country.

This is in Cebu City and is the cross of Ferdinand Magellan the Spaniard who came to the Philippines in 1521 . It is very historical and may or may not be the original cross that Magellan got the Spanish and Portuguese explorers planted in 1521

As others have stated, there is construction going on but it is worth a trip to visit this very important part of history. Very neat to see, worth a couple minutes, snap a couple pictures and the basilica santo niño is right there so you can visit the church as well.
