“Disappointing”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

Stayed at this hotel for one night and it was terrible. I asked for a non-smoking and was given a smoking room. Room stunk with smoke soon as i walked in. Hotel staff only gave me one breakfast voucher when i booked the room as double occupancy. Tried to take a shower and the water was cold. Rang reception and asked if there was anything wrong with their hot water system and they said no but sent a plumber to have a look. After they looking at the shower they said to run the water for 20-30 minutes continuously, which i thought was crazy and complete waste of water!

The hotel caters for more locals than international guests. I personally would not want to stay here more then a night.

Pro's:
Close to Ayala Mall (2 min walk)
Larger rooms compared to Quest Hotel
More towels, toothpaste, toothbrush, face towels, large bathroom,
Good Security
Good size mirrors in rooms
Great room service menu
Good Size bedrooms

Con's:
No carpets at all in the hotel
Rooms too close to lifts, you can hear people leaving and arriving at lifts.
Rooms have paper thin walls
Algae in the deep end of the pool
No mini bar (which is fine) but no switch in the fridge to lower temp to keep drinks cool.

my girlfriend and i stayed at this hotel 8 -21 april 2014..this hotel is still young (16 may 2014 is its first anniversary) on a scale of 6 give it at 3..the staff very helpful...
its short comings are: NO cable TV and the reception you get is very poor.
NO hotel laundry service. there are two laundries across the steet..be careful of traffic..
Buffet is the same daily..have newspapers avail in the dining/restauran (get there early)
Room service closes around midnight, no souvenior shop...no functioning business center have one computer and got a hassel when trying to use the area such as well we got to find the owner to get the key ..not worth it..use the Parklane or Ayala mall (4th floor) near the movie house there is an internet shop...(its slow sometimes) ..when calling the front desk no one wants to pick up best to go down and state your case...the fitness cen 3rd floor is new and small with an assistant to help is needed..the Sauna is fair..the pool is fair..the deck area for the pool has cigarettes butts all about ..the pool sauna and fitness open 7am close about 9 daily...sometimes the hotel did not have small change (you need it if you ride a jeepney)..
the staff was ok tried to be helpful as much as they could..my big concern was no good cable TV was told by an hotel employee this a problem since its opening...finally the hotel is next door to the Ayala Mall but be careful when crossing the street to get to it the traffic is dangerous seem like the cars dont like stopping..you can cross over to the jeepney terminal but traffic is hazardous...there are plenty of taxis about the hotel and mall..when booking a tour use the hotel tours or tour services.one time an hotel employee set me up with a tour and the guide did not speak english..so go with the pros on the tour service not an employees friend etc..finally hotel room view as lousy due to on going construction...my room was cleaned daily i and fresh towels daily...the rate i got was 2080 Pesos through a promo the Rack rate is about 4500 Pesos a day..and read the fine print..the hotel did list a lot of its short comings (a class act i think)but i failed to read the fine print..overall the hotel is trying..the hotel will be 1 year old 16 may 2014..for now i would not stay there..maybe next year or so i check it again...tks for reading this short story..could have been worse

Room Tip: choose a room away from the elevators..the chimes ARE maddening sometime..the end rooms are bigger...

This was our first trip to the Philippines so we had no idea what to expect. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable. There was no language barrier with any of the staff we encountered either. The hotel was very clean and modern. Our room was spacious and well maintained. Every day we received bottles of water in our room. On several days, we took advantage of the complimentary buffet breakfast. There was a good selection of items on the buffet including some Philippine dishes. The lunch and dinner menu was somewhat limited though. We were very pleased with our stay and would definitely stay there again if we go back to Cebu.

Being in Cebu for the first time in the month of January and the Sinulog festival is something that really makes me and my family exciting. This hotel made it a lot better, with the accommodating and friendly staff, clean and orderly room and facilities, I'd really say that this place is worth recommending.

Exceptional!!

The Mandarin Hotel is next to the Ayala Mall in Cebu, less than 100 meters walk.

We were very happy with everything at this hotel. The customer service was flawless! The room and hotel were very clean, safe and comfortable. The king size bed was perfect for a nights rest. The room had table and chairs for eating room service and the shower with bathtub was perfect. The tub allowed for a very relaxing shower gel bubble bath. Very nice! They had complimentary water, coffee, condiments, two types of shower heads, drip and a wand with an easy to use room safe. The internet was wireless and it was about the best we have experienced in Southeast Asia, allowing each guest to sign on with two separate wireless devices 24 hours a day throughout your stay. There were lots of mirrors both bath and hallway from door, good closet space with hangers and cable tv, which was actually not operating at full potential, but we were briefed on this before booking due to construction and improvements being carried out. We did not see where the work was still being done, but this was something we thought we might have to bear with, but not a sound was heard of work or the mess that would go along with it. Maybe on one of the other upper floors or something as there were nearly 20 floors. It had a nice pool on the third floor although it would catch a bit of sun in the late afternoon.

The included free breakfast was at par with the best I have had, with lots of selections for both English and Filipino desires, with choice of juice and fruit. If something ran out and was mentioned they would deliver a new tray of that item. The breakfast was a nice change from what we normally experience on most of our travels. All you can eat!

The only issue I could think of was that when someone wears heals you can hear them walk all the way down the hall and rooms closer to elevator will hear the bing of the elevator door opening or arriving. We would stay here again without a doubt. Impressed with the service from everyone including the security at the door to every single employee providing the friendly and helpful service other hotels would love to have. We booked online at just under the special rate the hotel is currently offering.

Room Tip: Try further from the elevators nearer the end of a hall. Maybe quieter when high heals tread the til...

The hotel is conveniently located in the city center, its a 5-minute walk to the Ayala Mall, accessible to the public transportation.
The staff are not that courteous but they are not snub.
The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, lightings are good. Avoid rooms near the elevator, and the higher the floor the better to avoid the noise typical of a hotel in a city center.
Breakfast almost the same for two days that I stayed there.
Reasonably priced hotel. They require a Php 1,000 deposit to cover the consumables.
Overall, this hotel is Good Enough

We needed a place to sleep for one night. If I had known how great this place was I would have stayed longer.
Service was great, room was clean, breakfast was included the price and it was plentiful.
I really recommend this hotel.
