If you in Cebu and not interested in spending to much money on a room than the Diplomat is a good choice. Its clean and the restaurant is decent. Standards slip a bit in Cebu but the staff here are great and helpful. Its centrally located and within walking distance of malls and shops. I recommend the top two floors and be sure to request to be near the Wifi if you want to be able to use it. Not all rooms get a good signal. The massage at the entrance is great. The Air con. always works or me. Of course I do not recommend drinking tap water in the Philippines but its ok for brushing your teeth and showering. Use the safe in the room i never seem to see the same house keepers twice. Lol The rates are around $40 a night the rooms a re pretty quite never been awoken or disturbed. only one elevator goes past the 5th floor so check which one you on. The deposit of 1000 pesos cash has always been returned to me. I do not drink form the honor fridge/bar its much cheaper to restock it yourself before you leave. Bo's coffee shop is a treat up the road a few blocks and across the street. The city central is a shoppers world several malls around town as well are worth checking out. Enjoy Cebu

Room Tip: Top two floors for a decent view and near the wifi or you will not get a signal

walked in with four mates had a look at the rooms
and we all walked out again

desperately needs a renovation

the only good thing about the hotel was the staff at the front desk
and the location

if you are on a budget than have a look at the rooms before you book
and make up youre mind if its for you or not

I have stayed at the Diplomat on many occasions and have never been disappointed with the room or the service. I stayed there for 6 months last year and for 2.5 months in 2014. The location is excellent with Robinson Mall a short walk. Also several restaurants in walking distance. If your looking for a clean room at a decent rate, then the Diplomat is for you.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 5th floor or above. Very quiet there..

My 25 year old son along with 5 of his friends visited Cebu city during the busiest peak season due to the very popular Sinulog Festival. And here is what he has to say about this hotel.

"We arrived at aroun 8:30 PM and was immediately greeted by the security guard who called the bellboy to get our bags. Check in was fast and the did ask for a 1000.00 Php. Security Deposit. We reserved 2 deluxe rooms, 1 year ago to make sure that we will have a place to stay during the festival.

The hotel is old, hence you can understand why the walls are dirty and bathroom tiles were as well. But we didn't mind since the dirtiness of the hotel is attributed to it being a old hotel, more of a depreciated kind of description for its rooms and interior. The room I was staying at had Cable Television and hot shower while the other room doesn't have both. They immediately fixed the heater when we called but for the television, they told us that not all rooms have cable television which was deceiving since their website says that rooms have cable tv. WIFI is SUPER SLOW and at times useless.

Front desk were at times clueless when we tried asking for directions as well as areas where we can get a taxi due to closed roads and streets for the festival. We had to do our own research because of this.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location especially during the Sinulog Grand Parade. It is very near Osmena boulevard and Mango Ave. Very near restaurants (Abuhan Puchero), Malls (Robinsons) and Clubs or Bars in Mango Avenue. The whole street of F Ramos where this hotel is located is very festive with each establishment having their sound system set up.

Overall, this hotel is just okay considering the price that we paid. We don't mind coming back to this hotel for next year's sinology festival."

Room Tip: Book way in advance especially if you plan on visiting during Sinulog.

Over the past 3 weeks I stayed here 3 time 3 nights. Nothing special about it, but the rooms are clean and cleaned every day, the serice is good and the price reasonable. Internet connection is poor. Staff is kind and helpful. Restaurant is o.k., but rather expensive.

Room Tip: Ask for fourth floor with good working t.v.

I ve been to this hotel several times since three years and i ve never been disapointed...
Of course, this hotel need to be refurbish a bit but its quite good value for money and affordable in Cebu city, the second biggest city in the Philippines... Standard rooms cost 1000 PHP in walk-in... What could we expected more for this price???. Rooms are small but providing cable TV, fridge, safety box, twin or one large bed as choice...Nevertheless, the WIFI is a bit slow and only working on a few rooms ... (tip could be #205 or #206 to get the wifi)...
Staff is quite nice, all the ladies on the front desk are friendly and always smiling... the chambermaid is efficient, and a special mention to both security guards always friendly and funny...
The hotel is providing one computer in the restaurant at your disposal...
The room service is correct.
Located in downtown of Cebu city, walking distance to Mango Square (party), 5 minutes by cab to get Ayala Malls and 10 minutes to the Pier. Also near, restaurants, laundry, banks are fitness on the same streets.
