had a very pleasant few nights here, paid 1360p for a decent clean modern room which was very well maintained and cleaned daily to a high standard with fresh towels and bedding without asking, there was cable tv and an electronic safe in the room, the location was good being just a short walk from the robinsons mall, the only downside was the in house restaurant was not very good but there are lots of eating options nearby so it did not matter that much, if ever in cebu again i would stay here.

We stayed at the diplomat for 3 nights the first time. Staff were friendly and courteous. Beware of the elevators as they close too fast even if you're in the middle of the door.

We stayed on the 3rd floor. 2 single beds. we were after a double but that was ok. No window in this room. Air conditioning was good and it cooled the room quickly. Bathroom was clean but not what you would expect in a hotel. The water heater was confusing. it had 2 settings for the heat. Low and Medium. They were both too hot! i would turn it on for a few seconds and turn it off again. No iron/ ironing board in the room as they provide that service. i used it a few times and it if you give a tip to the person doing it, they will do it promptly. Even within 30mins..

On our second stay here the following week for 1 night, we stayed on level 2 on the corner room. It had a window. And the room was much nicer, cleaner, newer than level 3. it was smaller but better. no elevators on this level though (but i think there elevators for another half of level 2). It was ok as you have porters carrying your luggage and it was only about 15steps.

Great thing about the hotel was it did what it needed to do. The value for money was better than any other. Location: Central to everything. you're only a 2minute ride to the Crown Regency hotel to try the Sky Walk and Edge Coaster. you could walk to the Robinson mall (5-7mins) from the hotel. a few nice restaurants (thai, spanish, steak/rib house) all within walking distance. Taxis were abundant. Great thing about the taxis in Cebu is that they HAVE to use the meter. and its so cheap. unlike manila where you have to bargain with the driver. The Ayala Mall was around a 10min cab ride (P45). SM was around a 20min cab ride. Night life - IT park was a minute cab ride (P70).

Attached to the hotel is a Spa/Massage. it was great to come back from a long day and have a massage and within a 1 minute walking distance to your room.

Also, we had brought our pet dog along to Cebu. And about 5minutes walk from the hotel was a Vet and Pet storage area. You could keep your dog/ cat there for about P250 a night and you could visit it, feed your dog (or they could feed them for you). we took our dog for walks in the morning and evening and brought it back to the vets for housing.

Overall. Good value for money. Its not a 5 star hotel. But if you're looking for some thing central. very very reasonable pricing. and a good sleep. i highly recommend the diplomat and i will be staying there again.

For 1500 PHP there are many hotels but this one offered more quality for less (1000 PHP for rooms mostly without window and escalator). But if you don't mind this is a good choice. Reservation is recommended.

Robinson Department Store and Supermarket in walking distance.

PS: Don't sit in the lobby with shorts or bare feet. The mosquitos will notice it!

Very good value. The hotel has a small restraurant in the lobby offering a limited menu at low price. There is a Thai restraurant right next door where we found excellent fair also at a low price when we wanted to chance things up a bit.
We stayed 10 days and can't complain too much considering the price. House keeping cleaned things up every day. I have no complaints about dirty sheets and pillow covers like has been mentioned in other reviews but comments about the towel were right on. They looked dirty and were completely wore out with not enough material left on them to completely dry a person after taking a shower. Luckily we had a couple of beach towel with us and used these instead of the hotel towels.
As mentioned elsewhere the small safe located in each room is very convenient.
There was a strong smell of cigar smoke in the room the day we checked in but the following days it did not seem so noticeable. If this is something that would bother you be sure to request a non smoking room.
Overall good value for the money spent.

I am a Foriegner and I stayed in the Diplomat for 15 nights while having some dental work completed in Cebu . The fromt desk staff are ALL great , especially Marilou and Marqaux , Rooms were kept clean , room safe worked great , what a plus ! Beds were always made , staff always helpful when I needed something , even advice on where to eat etc . The Spa was great , had a massage each night , Thanks Anne ! For the price and the location in Cebu , I'd say this hotel is a great deal . For all foriegners , please remember you are in the Philippines and if you wish to have things be just like home , then maybe you'd better just stay at home . The Philippines is the Philippines , please except that . Its the 2nd best place on earth .

The rate for the Diplomat was reasonable. But when you pay a cheaper price you don`t get that extra service. For example, when we tried to get information about places to see in Cebu or maps of the city, the front desk wasn`t that helpful. They were actually a little cold. The hotel seemed to house many white males with Philippino women. Sometimes we`d see the dude escorting his local one night stand out to the curb in the morning. Other times it was men in their 50`s or 60`s having a silent awkward breakfast with their woman in the hotel restaurant. Overall the service wasn`t great but it was reasonable clean and a suitable place to sleep.

Rang this place ahead and was asked to give my time of arrival. I estimated between 4 and 5pm. I arrived at 5.15 and my room had been sold. I was then left with completely indifferent staff who couldn't comprehend the concept of customer service. I did eventually get a room, it was cheap and nasty and I left the next day and fund much better elsewhere.
