Nice place to stay, pleasant pool, very kind staff. Food is international, breakfast is good (my advise : ask for a fresh mango !). We experienced an earthquake, the staff has been great ! organising mattresses on the 1rst floor for us the 1rst night. The whole staff is welcoming.

Room Tip: avoid too high floors

We go to Philippines once or twice a year mainly to visit with family and friends and to look after some personal matters here and there. So, we end up spending all of our time in the National Capital Region (or NCR). This time we decided to spend some time in Cebu giving my wife the chance to visit with her cousin who moved to the region mid 80's, and the boys and I a chance to relax from the hustle and bustle. We also wanted to see Cebu again to bring back memories of our 1992.

We were staying at the club level, so the hotel provided complimentary transport and the people were there to meet and assist us. It was not a smooth ride and I could not imagine how to get there as we made too many turns. Some of the roads were very narrow and a bit scary as they were crowded with people. This is not how it was in 1992.

When we got to the hotel we were escorted to the club lunge where Ms. Fuentes was there to receive us. She and her colleagues at the lounge were the epitome of service excellence. She was very accommodating when it turned out that we had forgotten our room and spa vouchers purchased through the Business Travel magazine charity auction. We agree that my card would be charged and the charges would be reversed as soon as the vouchers were delivered. We did send the vouchers a day after we got back to Manila and the charges were reversed in total two days later. That was way better than we would have ever expected.

The hotel spa (my wife and her cousin used the service), was well worth the visit and the money. The service was professional, easy going, and with lots of smiles. The pool was where the boy and I went every day. We loved the huge size allowing us and others to swim without feeling crowded even when there were over 30 people at one time. The waterfall provided extra excitement and there was a pool for the little ones providing some peace of mind. The restaurant around the pool provided some top snacks which we enjoyed after a few laps.

Talking about food, the club lounge was one of the highlights of our trip, They served food from early morning till about 10:00 PM sometimes going beyond when guests wished to stay. They catered to our desires without any sign of hardship. They often had to go down to the restaurant on the first floor to fulfill our requests and they were happy doing so. More than the food was the quality of service in every aspect. We were helped with where to go, where to shop and where to eat. For shopping, the hotel provided a shuttle bus to the two major shopping centers in the city; Ayala and SM.

The checkout and the trip back to the airport were very well carried out and we could only feel sad for leaving. It was definitely a pleasant break.

Room Tip: Top floor facing the sea or lower floor overlooking the pool.

I was told that marco polo though pricey is not that 5star. And its a good thing that i just booked their promo rate. Because the room is so old fashion. Its not soundproof. I woke up with the chatter of a group of people preparing for a wedding outside my door (now im in a very bad mood ). The bed is hard. Pillows are not goosefeather, the bathtub doesnt drain (i have to pick it manually.. eeew )
Goodside is the service. Cafe marco is worth every penny. Maybe an upgrade to their room interiors and furnishing will make the at par with other hotels.

This is one of the best hotels within the Marco Polo Group. The competent management of this hotel is keen on caring about every single detail starting from the room and its amenities, the food at its restaurants, but above all the impeccable service. There is truly one place only to stay when visiting Cebu City: The Marco Polo, standing high up on Nivel Hills overlooking the city or the mountains depending on which side of the building you will be staying. Try to have your dinner at the rooftop restaurant or indulge in a thin-crust pizza made in a genuine wood fired brick oven at the El Viento at the pool side. I have been patronizing this hotel for years and never ever noticed any fluctuation in quality.

Room Tip: Ask for a deluxe room with sea/city view on the higher floors.

This is the best hotel that i have stayed so far in CEBU. The rooms are clean and spacious. The swimming pool is perfect. Staff are courteous and accommodating. The extra peso spent was worth it.. Very near tourist attractions.
