No need to explain, try it out yourself. We went to this place on a recommendation of one of the waiters at Shrangi-La. He told us to mention his name, and they would give us a good discount. When you are close to Mactan, you should try this place. They have fresh seafood and you get to choose how you'd like them to be cooked. My all time favorite: buttered shrimp with garlic, squid adobo, sinugbang isda, tinuwang isda.

We went to this place on a recommendation of one of the waiters at Shrangi-La. He told us to mention his name, and they would give us a good discount.

After arriving at Fredz, we noticed several Sutukil (fresh seafood )places along with some very local tourist markets around the area. The fact that the restaurant was fairly empty should have warned us already, but we decided to give the place a try.

While some of the food was decent, I must say that this was some of the worst service I've received at a restaurant in the Philippines. Add the fact that I felt they took advantage of me, and ripped me off, I came to the realization they JUST WANTED OUR MONEY.

1. Upon checking out the seafood, the woman taking our order was not really friendly, and was fairly pushy in taking our order. I don't think she smiled once, and was pushing us to order without stating the charges of our food.

2. After ordering our food (lobster, 4 prawns, lapu lapu fish, and 2 squids to grill) and sitting down, I went to the front to talk to who I thought was the manager, and asked him for a clarification of the estimation of our food. The estimate of the food was around 4500 pesos ($100 USD) He also told me there would be a cooking charge of about 750 ($17 USD) added on. I told him that I thought the estimate was pretty high, and that our waiter highly recommended the place, so I should get a better price on the food. He said that he would give a discount at the end, though I was pretty skeptical. He was not really friendly at all.

3. When the food arrived, it was a mixed bag. Although the prawns and the fish were good, the calamari was rubbery, and the lobster was overcooked. Very unimpressive, and definitely not worth the estimation of the price of the bill. Additionally, the waitresses were not very friendly - when we asked for more napkins or additional rice, they didn't seem interested in serving us at all.

4. Now, for the finale. When we finally received the bill, it came out to 6600 pesos ($152 USD)! In addition to a cooking charge of 750 pesos ($17 USD) as noted before, they charged an additional 700 pesos ($16 USD) service charge. As I looked at the bill in surprise, the waitress just stared at me for a minute, again not wanting to help or be friendly. Did I mention how horrible the service is here? She eventually asked me if I wanted me to go back and ask for a discount. I was furious that a discount had not been applied already since I had already told the manager an hour ago that someone had recommended me before, and told him we should get a discount. I said yes, please go back to check on the discount. After 5 minutes, she comes back and shows us a revised bill with a paltry discount of 200 pesos ($4.60 USD) for an adjusted bill of 6400 pesos ($147 USD). Ridiculous. Unfortunately, I was too shocked by the service and costs that I was not able to fight for the bill.

This place is horrible. If you want overpriced mediocre seafood, want bad service, and want to get ripped off, feel free to come here. Otherwise, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, and spread word to others to stay away. They don’t care about you, they just want your money.
