I went to Cebu with my friends for few days and this was my fourth time and I have stayed at (Shangri la, movenpick, and white sands).
The resort itself if not bad. If you are with a family, it's a decent resort. Quiet, service is ok and the staff is ok. The beach is ok but the weather wasn't great when we were there so we didn't spend a lot of time there. Of course you can't compare it to Shangri la but I thought the beach and the water was better at Movenpick but better than White sands.
The breakfast is not bad.
The rooms are nice and clean. But they only have twin beds. I also wish you could open up the windows by the door. Love getting that sun int he morning but couldn't.
I wish they had free shuttles to the malls like some of the other resorts.
My friends and I usually ate dinner outside like the grill or by the airport. We love eating local. It's so much cheaper and tastier.
I think if you are just going with friends, White Sand is not a bad idea (since it is a bit cheaper) but for family this place is not bad.

My husband and I stayed here two nights in January 2013 between flights from cebu to siargoa. We arrived in the evening, had dinner at the resort, slept, spent the day at the pool relaxing, ate there again and left the following morning.

The resort was nice, clean, there was air conditioning, the pools were great to lounge at, and the food was great. The breakfast buffet which was included in our stay was a huge selection!!

The thing that kind of "ruined" my experience, is how loud it was at night. We were staying in a little room closest to the where the buffet is ( essentially across the sandy path from th ebuffet/pool), and there is also a bar there open at night. Since the windows are not real windows, and only really screens there is no sound barrier.

There was a group of guys getting drunk and being obnoxiously loud till 4am ( singing at the top of their lungs, yelling). Although this was no fault of the resort, the resort fell short as they obvisouly kept serving them, and didn't shut down the noise or tell these guys to go to bed and respect the other paying custimers, or tell them to be quiet, or turn off the music.

The resort itself was very beautiful though, and I would recommend it but ask for a room nearest to the beach, and furthest away from the buffet/bar

Also make sure to check out well in advance to when you need to leave. There was no line up, and for some reason it took about 30 minutes to check out at the desk.

Room Tip: Get a room FAR away from the buffet/bar to get any sleep

Our family was very impressed with Maribago Bluewaters Resort's service. Everyone greets you with a smile! It felt great to be back in Cebu with the warmth and hospitality of Maribago. My husband and I renewed our marriage vows by the beach front. I worked every detail with their banquet coordinator through the email. Everything went well without a problem! Food was perfect! Our kids had so much fun with their activities and facilities for families. We felt really well taken care of. This resort is truly a pride of Cebu!!!

We stayed 2 nights, and overall, I felt the resort left much to be desired.

The rooms were sizable, had two queen beds, and contained a great bathroom with separate tub & shower area...with everything being bigger than necessary. However, this can be had for a far cheaper price (for example, head to Bohol and pick a nice bed and breakfast in Loboc).

The staff smiles and appears helpful enough, but they weren't able to help us know if we could extend our stay by one night during check-in (they asked us to come back later, but we didn't and they also seemed to forget), and they managed to leave out two key details when they helped us get a taxi to the pier 4 (advance ticket sales stop at 5:30pm and there is construction on the main road leading to heavy delays).

The resort property is quite big but I felt a little disappointed there beach doesn't "look out to sea." But, this is being picky because still the beach is nice, water is calm, and they also have three great pools.

The spa is very good, but the snorkeling trip was a disappointment (they didn't warn about jellyfish ahead of time, the tour guide was touching lots of the sea life (picked up two starfish), and the water had lots of plastic and other trash).

We ate dinner offsite both nights, but the breakfast in the morning was average. They didn't have any fresh bananas or mangoes (IN THE PHILIPPINES!!!), and they charged extra for a capuccino.

Much of this review is indeed picky, but I feel they ask for it by the price charged. It's a nice resort and appeared very kid-friendly. More importantly though, if you are adventurous at all (even the slightest), just take a taxi to pier 4 from the airport and head over to Bohol (Tagbilaran). Far less people, better beaches and activities, and cleaner water...we stayed in Loboc our last 3 nights. Those ended up being the best in our whole trip.

Room Tip: Some rooms near the spa and check-in, while others near the beach, while others near the main restau...

Maribago Bluewater reminded me of a quiet village-like atmosphere, where people get around doing their own things, and staff are not too intrusive. It has enough space for everyone to doing their own things, and provide a respite from the busyness of life.

I believe that the place is feeling a little run-down, but I also noticed that renovation is on-going to make the rooms up-to-date. Landscaping is also ongoing. So you will expect better environment with time. Make no mistake, the condition of the resort is not bad, so don't worry.

Some things were I felt the resort could do better:
(1) The fridge in my room makes a terrible knocking sound whenever the compressor stops after cooling the fridge. (Room 225). Please replace or repair the bar fridge.
(2) Breakfast was generally good, except for the occasional misses. e.g. potato wedges were oily, hard and rubbery; some variety of the sausages were tough-skinned.
(3) Spa staff were not attentive to people visiting the gym in the morning. The duty officer looked sleepy and inattentive; towels were not replaced and air conditioner not turned on. This is one lapse that the management must look into.

In terms of location, you will not want to venture out of the resort. Once you are out of the main gate, rest assured you will be hounded by the touts outside the resort selling you services such as massage, island hopping, local tours, etc.

It's not the fault of the resort; the people are living in pretty poor state, and they are trying to make a living by providing these services. I am not a fan of such direct selling, as they are not reputable providers and there may be lapses and additional hidden costs associated with these offers. So my advice is stay clear of them.

However, you may cross the road just in front of the resort to eat some Korean food and have a massage at the shops. You can also buy bottled water for your consumption at a much lower price.

All in all, a pleasant place to be for a quiet place. Service staff are very helpful and polite, greeting you on most occasions; the beach is pretty nice place to do your sunbathing and reading a book. There is a bar for an evening drink watching the sunset. Did I mention there are also sharks swimming in the water garden near the reception, and the billiard table and table tennis too?

A relaxing resort, clean, peaceful, very friendly staff. We have 3 kids 11,9, 6 so we found the resort to be very safe and quiet. There were not a lot of children so they made no friends but they had the choice of 3 pools , volleyball and chess. The beach - well it is more of a small harbour - our children did not swim in there. We only stayed for 5 days - which was enough for us. Food was buffet food - with an Italian restaurant - which was just ok. We choose not to eat again at Italian as we picked the best of it the first night. We hired a boat for a day and went snorkeling - which was the highlight, where we did island hopping and had a bbq lunch. We would go back again but there are too many other places we want to go, so we won't! They really need to update the towels and pillows and that would make a huge difference. The rooms were clean and beds firm and the bathroom was beautiful. For a very reasonably price place - we really enjoyed it.

Room Tip: Depending on price and requirements (small children), we liked the delux room as we looked over the...

Very good resort for a vacation. The restaurants inside the resort are pricey. The beach is very clean. The location is poor. When you step outside the resort you see trash on the road, old buidings, and people asking for money. When you visit the Philippines people will ask you for money or they will try to steal your wallet. Be on RED ALERT when you walk the streets of the Philippines! You are safe when you are inside the resorts around Cebu.

Thank You.
