“Beautiful Pool area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2013 via mobile

Stayed in this resort on Dec 2012 with my boyfriend. The resort was very spacious and has 4 big pools. The beach in Mactan is not pretty, not very inviting since the sand is gray and the water looks murky.
Our room had 2 double beds and an LCD TV. The bathroom had a tub on the shower and several towels. I still felt the room is too expensive for how it looked like.
The plus side is that the room we got had a pool across our door. The pool was clean and not crowded. I spent most of my time there since I can't swim on the beach.
The food at the restaurant was too expensive. We asked the concierge if we can have pizza delivered in our room and they said we have to pay P400 corkage per person who will eat the pizza. We thought it didn't make sense so we just ate at the restaurant.
Food at the restaurant is good, nothing fancy. Breakfast buffet was great though, a lot of choices available.
Overall, our stay was good but we still felt everything was too pricey. Coming from Cebu City, you may stay here for 1 night before going home to Manila since this is only 15 mins away from the Mactan airport.

Dear Charmedtraveller,

Thank you for choosing to stay at Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort during your last visit in Cebu. We truly appreciate your kind commendation of the resort and its facilities, especially the beautiful pool area.

Our guests’ safety is a primary concern so as a matter of resort policy, we do not consent to bringing in of food from outside that may or may not be safe for consumption. Corkage fees are applied mainly to discourage guests from doing so. Thank you very much for your understanding. We are glad to note that you enjoyed the resort’s varied food offerings, particularly the breakfast buffet.

We have also taken into consideration your comments on pricing. These will help us when we review our product offerings.

Thank you for your time. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Cebu.

At your service,
Bluewater Maribago Team

We love our stay in Maribago. Breakfast spread has much variety. Several pools to laze around and swim in. Private beach that is wonderful to sit back, relax and just chill. You can take a paid shuttle to bring you out to the malls. There's not much outside of the resort, so it's a great place if you just want to lock yourself away from the world. Another great facility is the Amuma Spa. Very stress-reliving to just massage all the tension away. Wonderful, friendly staff! Will return when we can.

Due to our disappointing experience we checked out 4 days earlier and moved location.

Arrived to a resort which looks very different to its website. Found out it is 22 years old and I would suggest thats when the photos were taken. The first room we were shown smelt of sewerage overflow and was very dark so we asked to be reassigned an alternate room. This was brighter and upstairs, however it had Airconditioning that barely worked, and the doors to the bathroom dressing area only stayed closed if we tied them together with a towel. Construction was happening in the wing directly opposite our room which we were never advised of and as friends looking for a relaxing holiday we were surrounded by families with toddlers who screamed all day and (unfortunately) all night in the case of the family who was next to us.

The resort is really for the budget conscious or families with young children. The resort also opens the beach and all the facilities to the general public as well as the hotel guests so at the easter long weekend the resort was under staffed and over run by non guests. We found it quite confronting to have reserved an umbrella and loungers on the beach to then have complete strangers push in to any piece of shade that didn't have your gear on it! Two days In a row we had groups of people just park themselves on top of us - quite literally as if it was the most normal thing in the world!

The only saving grace was it was clean and the friendly staff who try to make the most of a sub standard product that needs to be reinvested in given the website illusion and prices being charged.

Room Tip: If staying in the spa wing ask for an upstairs room away from the construction.

The thing that set this hotels apart from others i have stayed in is the staff, Polite Friendly nothing to much trouble for them and the genuine care to ensure your stay is seamless. Stayed for 9 nights end Feb/ March, Stayed in one of the Premier Deluxe Beach Rooms, clean, comfortable, modern and quite set in nice locations with the sandy paths leading down to the beach area and other parts of the resort. Not a lot to do outside the hotel but there are a few places to eat at reasonable prices. Food and drink within the hotel a bit expenses but the norm as with most hotels. Majority of the hotel guests are from Korea, who tend to only spend a couple of days their. Just down the road is a brand new supermarket which you can stock up your fridge with to save hotel prices like beer and soft drinks. They do operate a shuttle bus into Cebu city at a small charge, but journey can be long depending on traffic. In all had a very relaxing and pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Premier Deluxe Beach Rooms, quite, modern, nice bathrooms, beds comfortable.

we stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. there is nth to do around the hotel.
you could not walk and go anywhere.
you have to eat lunch and dinner at the hotel which are expensive!
there is a shuttle for the shopping malls which costs 300 php per person.

there are %90 Japanese people around.

rooms are not new. they still use bath curtain!
they do not give beach towel.

the only good thing is the breakfast. It is really good especially for the Japanese people.

there is nth to do at nights. No music or any other attractions.

Visiting this place is truly worthy of your time and money. This place is cozy and most especially, the staff are very very hospitable and accommodating. It feels like you're home away from home. This is a must-not-miss place when you're visiting Cebu.

We stayed two nights in Feb. to break up our trip with the family. We enjoyed two dinners at the resort and drinks by the beach for happy hour. It was very quiet while we were there which was nice. Enjoyed a day relaxing on the beach with my husband. I heard it could be very busy on the weekend but the wed. and thurs. was just perfect. We stayed in the spa suites that I thought were nice but very dark and it was too hot to keep the door open. But we did not spend that much time in the room.we would stay there again if we were in the Philippines.

Room Tip: The spa rooms next to the road get noisy in the early morning with traffic
