Ilonggos love noise, from drums all night in January's pre-Dinagyang festival practicing to loud music all year from the Smallville entertainment area or an open-air karaoke place near many other hotels. Quiet is the number one reason for choosing the Del Rio -- it may be the only quiet hotel in the city apart from Days Inn, which has no pool and no views. If you are on business the Del Rio is a great place to relax sitting on the plaza and viewing the river and the sunset. The food is good and if you want the ethnic options at Smallville the trip is a very quick taxi ride there. Yes the Del Rio is old and has no elevator. But it is soooo relaxing!

Room Tip: Rooms 210 - 212 are exceptionally quiet.

stayed there for 19 days.. i became friends with the housekeeping and f&b people.. although the f.o pips were not of help at all.. in terms of asking for direction.. local hot spots and stuff.. location wise evrything is easy access.. from resto's.. transpo.. and central market.. just didnt like the schools located infront of it...

It used to be a popular hotel but it has seen its days. Still popular among the locals especially those who needs a place for wedding reception and parties. The staff was not welcoming at all and the lady who manages the car rentals booth at the lobby was even more unfriendly.

Definitely your experience can vary at this hotel. It was lovely for me as I stayed in the newer wing of the hotel and it had updated decor and amenities in the room. The older wing is dated and simply furnished but clean which might rate at only an "average" from me. But the service was universally prompt and polite.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing, rooms 400 or higher.

Stayed at Hotel Del Rio on a business trip to Iloilo a few weeks ago. The place is weathered and old but still has its charms. The rooms are big. Still uses old fashioned keys to the door. My room was 1 door beside housekeeping and the noise was a bit annoying at times. Twice also during the night, they closed the water pipe main so i was shocked to find rusty water coming out and in trickles. they immediately worked on it but its strange why the water mains are closed at times.
breakfast downstairs was ok.
They gave free wifi

Room Tip: dont get the room near housekeeping
