“World class!”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

My husband and I took a one night get away for a cooking class at the Aurora Inn. The staff were professional, friendly and informative. Meryl, Heather, and Patrick led us through a three hour workshop on cooking for the holidays, after which we sat down and ate what we cooked. From brined turkey, to double crust carmel apple pie, it was top notch. After dinner we walked across the street to Fargo Grill, which was bustling with college age patrons. Our room at the Inn was
spacious, immaculate and very quiet. Breakfast in the morning is delicious.

This is a beautiful, small hotel in a beautiful setting. The rooms are GORGEOUS and extremely comfortable. They bring you complimentary coffee/tea and muffins pre-breakfast so you can relax in your room. Breakfast at the Inn was included--very, very nice in a very cozy, beautiful setting. Down the road is the Mackenzie-Childs showroom and farmhouse--very worthy of a tour. Just incredible. There is not much else in the area--you are about 40 minutes from Ithaca, and other than that it's just a nice setting. During the summer season a boat tour to some wineries would be highly enjoyable.

Our wedding reception was held at The Inn 5yrs ago, and we spent our 5yr anniversary there to celebrate. Heather and staff were SO helpful in every way to make both our wedding and our anniversary weekend just incredible. Before we arrived, Heather made several special arrangements and pickups to make our evening of arrival and the weekend awesome, and a true surprise for my wife. The atmosphere at the inn is fun and relaxing, dinner at the restaurant was so, so good, and everyone is helpful and professional.

Room Tip: Lakeside rooms are beautiful. The street side rooms have balconies that are really enjoyable. Highly...

We always enjoy our stopovers at the Aurora Inn; the Inn itself is inviting and warm, the staff has proven to be thoroughly professional and reliable and the location overlooking the Lake is both picturesque and captivating.
The dining room is most inviting, the menu is excellent as to choice, and the quality of the food and the service have always been consistent and tasteful.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side overlook the Lake.

We had been looking forward to this trip for over two years. We had to cancel last year because of Hurricane Sandy. They were so understanding then, they just applied our deposit to this year. On our arrival they were so hospitable and welcoming! Our room was just beautiful, with a magnificent view of the lake. We had a lovely evening! In the morning we received an emergency phone call from home and we had to leave and cut our three night vacation into one.Not only were they gracious and understanding, they did not charge us for the two nights. Unheard of! We will try again next year! What a lovely Inn and what lovely people.

Our experience at the Aurora was so disappointing. The inn is exquisite both without and within.Everything beautifully appointed, elegant, and well kept.
My daughter ordered the cheese platter and I, the lobster rolls.
The cheese looked as if someone had just dropped it on wilted greens. The portion was small and unappetizing.
My lobster rolls were ordinary. Their much touted homemade chips were burnt and tasteless. The service was poor.
We had neither coffee nor dessert because of the food.
What a shame.
(We were told by someone in town that the chef had been seen cooking in another spot that day as well. Obviously the inn needs a professional who remains at his post.)

Yes, it is as everyone says: the renovations are truly exceptional and a work of art. We enjoyed our lovely and extremely comfortable room (room 4, I think). For us, New Yorkers, who constantly hear the din of traffic, the silence here was most needed and SO appreciated. If you add the courteousness of the staff and the efficiency of the running of this place, you know someone else is at the helm and that you are in good hands. Now you can experience what a great Inn is intended to let you do: relax. We did just that. And, we enjoyed a thoughtfully prepared dinner on the terrace watching the setting sun and relaxed some more. Now, this review is overdue, finally writing it speaks to the fact our stay was unforgettable. We remember it well, will return, and needed to say so.
