The entire property is impeccable and the service among the best anywhere. It's obvious that the staff have pride in their work and the property. The Inn has been lovingly restored and is very tastefully decorated with modern amenities. The two other buildings (EB Morgan and Rowland House) are also very tastefully decorated and outfitted with modern touches. The dining room in the Inn is excellent and features indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the lake. It's only a short walk from the other two buildings to the Inn and all are on the lake.

Room Tip: It's a quiet (but charming) little town and traffic on the road ceases early in the evening so e...

This beautifully restored 19th-century hotel is a perfect destination for a one or two-night getaway. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful, and the rooms are airy, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Two rooms have both a fireplace and lakeside views-- we stayed in #4, which also had a large balcony (shared with next room) overlooking the lake. The bathroom was roomy (large shower, no tub); and the bed was super comfortable with feather pillows and duvet. In the morning, they set a basket of coffee and homemade muffins and the newspaper outside our door, which we enjoyed sitting in private on our balcony in our bathrobes before going down to breakfast. The dining room is casual, with tables inside or on a terrace overlooking the lake. The town of Aurora is charming, but very small, so there is not a lot of choice for dining or entertainment. The inn has free bikes and canoes and kayaks- we paddled a canoe along the lakeshore one afternoon, and it was perfect. Be aware that there are multiple weddings on the property every weekend over the summer (you may be dining to the tunes of "Shout" emanating from the reception's dance floor- but all receptions are cut off by 11 pm). Also, for coffee-addicts, there is not an espresso machine for miles.

My wife and l stayed 8 nights in room 3 at the Rowland House. (10 rooms total) The newest lodging option in the Aurora Inn Collection Its located on the second floor. It has 2 large windows with a great view of Cayuga lake and one large window facing the EB Morgan House. Top of the line finishes and art. It comes with a queen bed. We are accustomed to a king so it was a little cramped. We left the windows facing the lake open at night to enjoy the fresh air and faint noise of the water lapping on Cayuga Lake. Otherwise its basically very quiet at night.
Also we enjoyed the birds in the morning.
The third floor rooms and common area utilize a lot of Mackenzie Child's furnishings. AC works almost too good. No exhaust fan in bathroom.
Breakfast is included at the nearby Aurora Inn. (Very short walk)
We enjoyed our coffee early in morning looking at the lake from our room or from the rocking chairs on the huge porch.
The guests are greeted by either Dale or Bryan. Both try very hard to be accommodating and they also keep an watchful eye on the house since people try to wander in to see how beautiful the house is.
Aurora is known for weddings but its also a great spot for a few nights of small town comfort and charm. Great get away from hustle of typical tourist centers. There are limited options for food but what is there is good enough. Ask the locals what's good to eat. They know. And they are very friendly! Give it a try. Aurora will win you over to its subtle elegance and charm.

Last week we spent three nights at the Aurora Inn and loved it. Beautiful, large room with balcony overlooking the lake. Friendly service. Frette linens and turn-down service with dark chocolates every night--pure luxury.

Room Tip: If possible, choose a room with lake view; even better, one with a balcony with rocking chairs and a...

Best in the area to hold a wedding. If you would like to exchange vows by the lake side, opt for Aurora Inn! The food and the ambiance is very good. Your guests might also stake at the hotel. Morever, it is very tranquilizing to walk by the lakeside if you get up early in the morning!

This Inn is great and we had a nice family get together for a few days. The rooms are well appointed and spacious. But....poor air conditioning- the days we were there hot and the AC could not keep our room remotely cool. It is an old Inn, but we've stayed in equally old properties before without this being an issue. We were in room 7, which is beautiful, but on the top floor, which added to the heat. Other family members were in other rooms with temperature issues as well.
All that being said, the Inn staff went above and beyond to make things better. They gave us fans and by the last night installed an extra cooling system. So, big kudos to them.
The food is very good, but service was pretty slow. The bakery down the street is a good option for breakfast if a leisurely large breakfast is not your thing. The pub across the street offers good sandwiches and salads as an option to the dining room. All are owned by the Inn and equally good food.
Our bathroom was large with a very nice looking tile shower, but was awkward to test the water temp etc without getting water all over the floor. The door didn't open well over the bathmat towel.
Although, the Inn is a great property with beautiful grounds, there isn't much to do outside of the
Inn. If you are there for a very quiet time, this is perfect. But, three days was a little long for us in this very small village. We would return to this property as it is well run and beautifully restored, but would stay for a shorter visit.
The front desk staff is friendly and goes above and beyond to assist their guests. It is worth a visit!

We had a fantastic view of Lake Cayuga from our room which had a fireplace and luxurious bed. The furnishings are impeccable and our Innkeeper host was fantastic. Our meal at the Inn was excellent with a great selection of local wines--their are numerous local wineries to visit.
MacKenzie Childs is just down the road and our visit there was the highlight of this trip for me.
Can't wait to go back and stay at the new Rowland House.
