“Lovely small hotel”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

The Assambleya Nikitaskaya is an outstanding small hotel. I found the hotel staff extremely efficient and affable. My needs were attended to immediately. The hotel will bring your breakfast to your room without any charge for room service. Breakfast always arrived at the time requested with exactly the right items. Everything in my room looked new. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel's location is ideal. I would stay again at this fine hotel again without hesitation.

This hotel was not disgusting. Now for the bad stuff. Internet and breakfast poor. Room 304 tiny with no window but did have a skylight. Close to Red Square and many attractions but 5 minute walk down a quiet side street. Staff was pleasant and they did promptly attend to the sewage smell coming up through the plumbing. I am on a Travel All Russia tour. I do think they should upscale the choice of Moscow Hotel. This hotel is below my minimum standard.

As mentioned by most reviews, location is ideal for walking to every place you will probably want to visit. Good restaurants nearby to satisfy your hunger. Breakfast will keep body and soul together but don't expect any more than that. Premises are clean though housekeeping is a little hit and miss (no replacement toilet roll one day). And, yes, street noise is very loud unless you brought earplugs or are exhausted from sightseeing and would sleep through anything.

More bothersome and somewhat aggravating was the unreliable wifi service in the room. When far from home or business, communication becomes important. If it is to you, you might want to find another location. Otherwise, this is a good small hotel.

Room Tip: Do ask for that room away from street side - we did not and should have.

Have stayed here a few times for business purposes, but my most recent stay just reaffirmed my view that this is a great little hotel to base any stay in Moscow. Five minutes walk from Red Square, fifteen minute walk to the sights of old Arbat and with lots of bars and restaurants close at hand this really is a great location. The rooms are not the biggest, but clean, comfortable and warm in the winter, cool in the summer a balance which some of the larger Moscow hotels have still to strike! Staff could not be any more helpful and in the years that I have been visiting the facilities are always being improved. You might not get the best choice of breakfast in the hotel, but it is more than sufficient to set you up for a day of business or sightseeing. Will be back again on my next trip!

Very nice and clean hotel. Excellent location a few steps away from the Red Square and all key attractions. Staff is very attentive and supportive. Comfortable room. Relatively good price given the average in Moscow. Would recommend.

Rooms are okay, probably a 3 good stars in West Europe. Location is convenient and this is the best, In my opinion, breakfast is lousy, served in the middle of lobby due to space reasons, too simple, espresso coffee at an additional charge, not even a bottle of water in the room and the telephone system for incoming calls does not work. My room was facing the street and it was very noisy. Overall, a fair hotel but nothing extraordinary. Staff was friendly. Payment is requested upon arrival, which is again awkward, specially when coming from long trip, the least you want to do is paying an invoice.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, ask for it upon check in

If you are looking for a quaint hotel in Moscow within walking distance of virtually all the places a tourist would be interested in seeing, this is the hotel for you. This small hotel is 15 minutes from Red Square and all that it contains. You can walk to the Kremlin as well as the new Christ the Savior Cathedral and a number of museums. If you want to venture out a little further, a subway stop is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and eager to please from the moment of check in until you walk out the door for the last time. Some folks did not like the rooms without windows on the third floor. We did, however, especially after talking with other guests who indicated that the street noise was a problem during the night. With only our skylight, our third floor room was very quiet and comfortable.
The breakfast buffet was basic, but perfectly fine. Because space in the lobby is at a premium, guests are invited to take their breakfast to their room. This was not a major issue for us, although we overheard some guests not being happy about this.
The entire hotel from the lobby to our guest room was impeccably clean. The rooms were well appointed and were even large enough to accommodate a triple using a roll-away if necessary.
In summary, Assambleya is a great value for anyone wanting to tour the city. This will be my downtown hotel on my next trip to Moscow. You can't beat the location. There is even English spoken at the front desk so obtaining directions to the sights is easy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the third floor without a window, but a skylight instead. It will be much quieter
