“Great location... Thin walls ”
Reviewed 28 October 2013 via mobile

I picked this hotel for it's location. It's literally 50 meters from the metro exits at kitay gorod station. It is a little difficult to find so make sure when looking you have the street number if the hotel! It helps!

When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and they seemed to be helpful for all of our stay. The room was fine it was small but had everything we need. The tv had Russian channels only but we didn't go on holiday to watch tv so that was fine!

The red square, st Basil's, kremlin etc are all very close about a 10-12 minute walk away which is the big draw to the hotel.

The only negative thing I can say is the walls are thin and you could hear your neighbours tv or conversations. Otherwise everything was great!

It's all about the location and the price!

This hotel is located in a convienant location to many attractions. Many restaurants in the area. Reception was friendly, helpful and skope English. Hotel is split in two sections. The left side has a few rooms, reception and the dining area. The right side consists of two floors. The stairs upto the third floor are "bouncy" and noisy - therefore do not take (standard) room #301 along with the rooms in the rear of the building - they face a area with a noisey industrial fan/motor. The skylights open, but makes it more noisy. Room was clean, bed was "springy". Wake up call was 1/2 hr. LATE. Breakfast was good. I would chose this again, but ask questions about location of room.

I spent four nights at Hotel Kitay-Gorod in September 2013. The hotel is clean but not newly renovated. The service was good and English speaking staff in the lobby. And the location is superb, 20 minutes to the Kremlin, Bolshoj and other remarkable places and 30 minutes to gallery Winzavod. And next door to the hotel are good restaurants and metro station. Very good value for money.

Room Tip: Better to choose rooms on the other side from the park and street, more quiet.

This hotel is just 30 minutes walk from Red Square, which is very convenient.
Breakfast is very good and has fruit.
The receptionists speak English very well.
It is expensive, as all hotels in Moscow, so if you want to save money should book further from the center of the city and take the subway, which runs until 1 am.

We spent 3 nights there, and yes, it's central, and for the gays among you: on a very busy cruising park, but actually we spent a lot of our time in the northwest of the city, which is prime restaurant, shops and bars ground, so I wouldn't have mind to stay less central - anyway, for the red square and the kremlin, this is the best situated 3 star hotel of the city i think

Just came back from Moscow. The hotel is really convenient beside the metro and just a few blocks away from red square. The staff is really helpful and efficient.
The hotel is not fancy, pretty basic but its all you need if your just going to go to spend the night. Good value for your money, (taking into account that your in Moscow which is really expensive).

The location is excellent, close to the Metro and within a comfortable walking distance to Red Square and other places of interest. Across the road is a very nice park.
Our room was a double at the front of the hotel overlooking the park.
Our room had an air conditioner, although friends we were travelling with didn't have this luxury so found the room a little stuffy with the window shut. The traffic requires that the window was kept shut all night.
The room, linen and bathroom were all spotlessly clean.
Close to the hotel were several eateries and a supermarket.
Breakfast was quite good with plenty for everyone. During the day there is tea and coffee making facilities in the breakfast room as well as a machine which makes good hot chocolate and capuccino.
The staff at the reception desk speak good English.
On the down side there are quite a number of steps to negotiate with suitcases and for some this could be a problem.
Also, although the bed was comfortable, there were parts of the mattress where the springs could be felt.
Free wifi was available in the room.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room with AC if travelling in the warmer months. The front rooms are nice but you d...
