“Nice Hotel, average location!”
Reviewed 22 September 2009

Last May, I won a voucher for a 2-night stay (at deluxe room incl. breakfast & 30 min. massage) from an Ebay auction. The reservation (by email) was made easily and quick! So this September, I decided to visit the Russian Capital.
The hotel lobby is quite luxurious, decorated with a colorful modern style. The reservation staff was friendly and keen to help you. The location of the hotel (Olympic Stadium of 1981 Olympic Games) is not the best possible since it’s an hour walk from the red square (3,5 km). The closest Metro (tube) station is 5-7 min walk and it is located 4 stations away (20 min) from the Red Square (ticket price aprox. 0.5£). The hotel provided a very convenient shuttle bus service every hour to Red Square and Pushkin’s Square. I would not recommend to use taxis during the daytime, since they are very expensive (20£ for Red Square). On the other hand, during the night it is the only safe way to move form the hotel since the surrounding area is very quite and you may have a feeling of insecurity!
Hotels room are very nice and well equipped (check my photos) but quite small (9-11 m2). But, I really enjoyed the extra king size bed. The views from my room isn’t great since you may notice a lot of buildings under construction (check my photos).
I did not have the chance to try hotels restaurants but the breakfast was fabulous as the selection and quality of the buffet was first class. Regarding the interior swimming pool do not have great expectations since it is quite small with ’80 style. The hotel decrypts a spa section, which actually is a small room where the massages and treatments are carried out. Although the massager was very good!
Concluding, this is a nice hotel (luxurious clean rooms & fabulous breakfast) locate in an average location. If you get a voucher from eBay is a real bargain!
Be aware of the hotel’s taxi drivers they are very expensive, for example they ask 2700 rubbles (60£) to the airport, when the real price is the half!

This is a beautiful hotel with funky interiors and lots of comfort. But really expensive - the food was extremely expensive. A sandwich as $20AUD and a glass of wine was about the same. We thought breakfast was included but it wasn't and we ended up spending $50AUD each - our own fault, we should have checked. It's also a little bit out of the way of the major attractions, but there's a free bus that can take you into town. But we had a good time and would recommend this hotel if you can afford it. Possibly eat elsewhere. The quality of food is excellent, however.

I chose this hotel because I was attending the Eurovision at the adjacent arena. Although quite a way from the city centre, the metro is nearby and the hotel has a shuttle bus service. Room was a bit smaller than expected but nicely designed and furnished. Smart lobby with several bars and a bakery as well as two restaurants in the basement. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful although their local knowledge was a bit limited. Service was execellent at all times, although painfully slow in the lobby level bar. Moscow is expensive but this hotel was good value given the location. The only thing I didn't like was the exorbitant cost of internet access (about £20 for 24 hours).

I went to this hotel, because the hotel that I prefer (Holiday Inn Suschevsky) was fully booked.
When checking in, I asked whether they could provide a quiet room. They told me that this was indeed a quiet room. However, the room faced a construction site, where construction goes on until midnight, and starts again at 6 am.
I tried the Vienna Cafe for breakfast. WIde variety of food, but bread is nor really fresh. Also, the staff is rather slow in responding.
The hotel is about 5 minutes walking from the Prospekt Mira metro station, which is a good starting point to visit other places by metro.

A arther new hotel, and the price for a night on club level was OK for Moscow. Rather nice swimming pool at the hotel. The service is what cen be expected in Moscow - indifferent attitude, but provided all the necessary answers, so nothing too bad to report. The location is not really in the middle of the action: some 10-15 mins to walk to a subway station, passing a construction site and boring neibourghoods. Then another 10-15 min ride on the subway to the central Moscow.

The room was nice and spotless, and the bed was OK. The window view not really inspiring, some grey buildings and a large street. Haven't try any services on the club floor, it was some apetizers offered in the afternoon, with possibilities to order drinks. All in all OK, given the Moscow prices a decent place to stay, if the location is not the top priority for the trip.

Comparing to other hotels in big cities Renaissance is not too far from Kremlin (main attraction for sightseeing), but taxi prices and Moscow’s traffic make this distance a huge problem.
Front desk girls were nice and friendly, however manager asked by me for list of Aeroflot offices in Moscow handled me it in Cyrillic. When I asked for one in English he said that we are in Moscow and that’s why he printed it and gave me in Cyrillic. On the end I got one in English.
Room was nice with flat screen TV and bath. Internet wasn’t free even on executive floor rooms
I think in hotel were 5 restaurants, but for two days only 1 was open. It was overpriced and food was not the best.
Concierge service was top class. Maybe because people there were relaxed and young.
