Budapest Hotel

This hotel is... all about its location. From there, you can walk anywhere in central Moscow which would normally cost you much more. The hotel itself is interesting. Rooms are simple and clean but what makes it interesting is its authenticity. Service is ok; you get what you need. Breakfast was included which is really great as meals aren't cheap in central Moscow and the breakfast selection is really good.

The only advantage to this hotel is its location and few blocks walk to the Bolshoi Theatre and Red Square, however, the cost for that is the noisy restaurants along the street which went until 6am on Saturday morning. The room was small and stuffy. The hotel is old, part of its charm is the almost Tsarist air of the architecture, but these days it is the poor cousin of the Hotel Peter 1 around the corner. There is no wifi but the staff send guests around the corner to use the free wifi in the lobby of Peter 1 and they also share the Concierge service. Both are excellent but this is not all that convenient especially if the weather is bad. The breakfast was mediocre and the breakfast room was small and the tables very close together.

Room Tip: Rooms which face away from the street maybe quieter

This hotel is very centrally located, within walking distance to the Bolshoi Theatre, Red Square and the Kremlin.
Our room was spacious, clean and with old world style furnishings. A delicious buffet breakfast was also included with our accommodation.
I'm only sorry that we didn't stay there longer!

It's a beautiful old building that is very tired and in desperate need of a coat of paint, new carpets and curtains. The room was extremely small with a fairly comfortable bed. The breakfast was very basic as was the dining room. The bar, which is still being advertised, was in fact closed some time ago! The only lounge area being 4 small tables and chairs just off the front entrance. While we were there we had to wake the staff member up to get served! (He used to hide behind the coke fridge!). The tapestry was half hanging off the wall and the lace trim on the curtains was in need of repair. The only positive would be that it is quite centrally located. I would not recommend this hotel and will not stay there again.

We stayed in both types of rooms. The standard room is small, while the junior suite is spacious, with a large bathroom. If you select a non-refundable reservation, the junior suite is about the same price as a standard room.
Don't pay for their over-priced WiFi. Walk around the corner to the sister hotel that has free WiFi in the lobby. The Budapest reception will give directions.
The hotel is within walking distance of the Kremlin and other sights. There is a grocery store only about a block away.
Breakfast is good.
One morning we did not receive our requested wake-up call, but I suppose that can happen at any hotel.
There was some street noise in the standard room.

Room Tip: Get junior suite if possible.

Budapest Hotel offers rather basic rooms, not very big but clean and quiet. The only surprises come from the ridiculously expensive card you have to buy for the wifi (700 Rubles ~ 21 USD ~ for 24 hours) and the price of the mineral water in the minibar (160 rubles ~ 5 USD ~ for... 25cl !!!). So, if you are thirsty, go the "produkti" and if you are an Internet addict, go to any coffe shop... Last, the location is pretty good : not far from Troubnaia and Loubianka, the 2 main stations.

Bedroom, bathroom and everything very clean. Very comfortable bed and very close to the center and comercial area. Good restaurants near the hotel. Fantastic breakfast!
The worst thing is the noise from the music of Men's Club near the Hotel.
