Budapest Hotel

The Budapest Hotel is perfectly located near the Bolshoi, Moscow's restaurant sector and less than ten minutes walk from Red Square. We stayed for one night near Christmas and found the hotel quite easily, as it's situated between two key boulevards.

Other than location, our second priority was cleanliness and while our room was definitely dated (flat-like layout, old furnishings, open pipes) it was clean and great for one night.

In the morning we tried the breakfast and found a great continental selection, with typical salads/fruits, cheeses and sausage, toast etc.

Given the cheap price we were really pleased with this hotel and would happily use it as a base again.

Only issue I have with this hotel is the Wi-Fi charges, go round the corner to their sister hotel, Peter 1 and get it for free in the bar. Also the bar isn't always open in Hotel Budapest which can be a bit of a nuisance.

Hotel itself is quite old fashioned (or traditional as some may prefer to call it) it's warm, cosy and a perfect location for Red Square and Kremlin etc. staff were very polite and the rooms were absolutely fine (as was breakfast).

Would def stay here again.

The hotel is located very close to Bolshoi theatre and to the red square. The rooms are old fashioned in the typical soviet style, also the comfort is in soviet style.
Anyway it is quiete clean and this is the most important thing.
The average price of this hotel is Eur. 200 or 240 depends of type of room. In western Europe the same hotel is prices maximum 50 Eur.
Breakfast is not so bad for a 3 stars hotel in Russia.
It is the only hotel in Moscow, I guess, without free wireless internet access. You have to buy a card ( cost about 17 Euro ) valid for 24 hours and only for one device.

Room Tip: Do not take single room if you want to be able to open your bag.... ( because of space ).

I have stayed in this hotel during a business trip. This hotel is connected with the Peter I hotel. It is a decent hotel located in the center of Moscow. Food at breakfast is good. Rooms are spacious. Now regarding the minus points : no free wifi neither in the rooms nor in the lobby whereas there is free Wifi in the hotel Peter I and moreover the telecom is very cheap in Russia. Secondly from the room 422 where I stayed you could hear the beats of a discotheque. I slept well but people might get disturbed. Finally the price of a taxi researved by the hotel is a bit high.

A 5 minutes walk from Bolshoy Theater and 10 minutes to Red Square hotels are normaly double price. We therefore where afraid of lousy service and tiny rooms, but the rooms were spaceious and well equiped. The service in the reception was quite accedtable to be in Moscow. The breakfast buffet was delicious, dinner restaurant, bar , free WiFi and spa services were provided by the neighbouring St. Peter hotel.

Excellent location, double windows meant it was very quiet. Spotlessly clean with great service from the front desk and doormen. Quite a good breakfest buffet. The carpets in the room are very old though, and the bathrooms are clean but also show their age. Located in an excellent district and for moscow center prices, not bad. Would stay there again

Close to Red Square, big thumbs up. Breakfast paltry. Room was big and ropy. Like a 4 star from 20 years ago. Internet you have to pay for. Worst of all, a night club in the street went on all night two nights running till 6am. I moved. Don't stay here unless you have to.

Room Tip: At the back if you want to sleep, at the front if you like thumping dance music.
