Did not enjoy my stay here. I had a sore back after 1 night in the bed, access to Metro is a challenge, food was very marginal, and the internet access is flaky. But is was cheap, which is why I stayed here, so I guess you get what you par for!

This hotel was booked by our travel agency and at the beginning, we were not very delighted by its location (a little bit too far from the nearest metro station). After we checked in, we were delighted by the services and food quality provided by this hotel, despite its location.

For a business hotel, it's perfect. The hotel provides free high-speed wifi internet access in the rooms and public spaces (I was able to upload my movies and pictures at 10mbps and I also was able to use my voip account here). For those who travel without a laptop or tablet, they have an "internet room" -- free access -- where you can use a computer and a printer, very useful for printing your online boarding pass for example, to skip the row in the airport :)

For transport, they provide a free shuttle service that can take you to the nearest metro station. The service is provided hourly and the timetable is available at the reception.

Rooms are very clean and the staff will be glad to answer your questions. In the lobby you can find free newspapers and flyers. Maps of the public transport are also available in the same stand or at the reception.

I stayed a week in Proton Hotel in January 2012.
Cons:
- Clean and silent place
- Has shuttle bus to Metro Fili and Expocenter
- Free of charge drinking water from dispensers at every floor
- Free Internet access
- Price reasonable for Moscow
- Faces park (trees)

Pros:
- Absolutely nothing to do withing walking distance of the hotel
- dependency on taxis
- No big size towels and disposable sleepers in the room. You have to order them in addition if you want. (I was ok with medium size towels they provide)
- The menu in the restaurant is very limited.
- Wi-fi works bad at some locations and rooms - better to ask for a LAN cable

The name of the hotel is Proton Business Hotel and I believe it is fine only for business visitors, not the tourists. But to make it clear, the hotel is absolutely ok for business visits.

I stayed there for on-off 20days over 3-4 weeks in Sep-Oct 2006:

Lets start with the positives: 1. Clean & Spacious rooms; 2. Reasonable prices compared with other hotels in Moscow.

The hotel is very inconveniently placed, now where near a metro nor bus station, restaurants etc... a taxi ride is required or alternatively there is a small mini bus timetabled to move you to and from the hotel.
Rooms are basic; restaurant (and I’m not joking) haven’t got a clue about service or cooking. Really, really bad food selection and on a number of occasions they brought me the desert first, meal last, bill second...??! A complete fiasco.
There laundry service is the worst i've ever experienced, they damaged an expensive jacket of mine and refused to take responsibility and declared that it was in worst condition when i handed it in (it was new).
They clam excellent service but really its a bad old decor hotel on the western outskirts of the city.
If you have no alternative and its a short stay...you'll survive. But if you’re thinking of taking family or staying for over 3 days, i'd give it serious thought.

Have stay in Proton hotel at least 6 times per year since 2002. The clearly the best little secret in Moscow. Service is excellent. You feel like home. Its spotlessly clean and people treat you like the best old friend.
I had stay in other more expensive hotels in Moscow but since I discover Proton it become home away from home.
Highly recommended.
