Very particular pretty cathedral. Did not go inside, but seems not to be worth it. Sight from outside is great enough. Make sure to attend a church service in another functioning church.

We went to this cathedral in the evening when there were less people visiting. We were able to have a really good look at the painted walls but according to our guide book, there should have been a tiled gallery. We found a painted one so we are confused about why the guide book insisted it was tiled. The cathedral does not feel like one inside because it is a series of small chapels which are interconnected. The stairs vary in height but the upper floors are lovely with a fabulous altar. I would recommend visiting when it is quiet because the queue can be quite long when the tour groups are about. We would have appreciated a guide pamphlet in English to self-guide, but these were not available.

A must see. Brilliant cathedral, so pretty and amazing architecture. See it from both sides (river and red square) - you only have to walk. Do go inside. It's very interesting - a rabbit warren of a place, not expensive and you will be able to take good photos of Red Square at a height.
If you want to go be aware red square can close without warning for an 'event' so check.

It's the Moscow symbol and is worth a visit, but the best panorama you get from the outside with the typical shape (onion) and color.
