“Wonderful Hotel in Moscow”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2013 via mobile

We stayed in this beautiful Palace Hotel for one night before our River Cruise. We love about this hotel is spacious large room, very clean and very well maintained. The staff speak great English and super helpful. The garden is beautiful and like a garden in a small palace. It's close to down town by metro. Food in the restaurant is great, maybe a bit on the high side. Too bad not many stay here. The value of the hotel is great. I would stay here anytime than those outrages pricy hotel in downtown. We will miss the big room when we check in our river boat tour. If we return to Moscow , this will be my choice of hotel.

The hotel has a lot of potential to be a beautiful place to stay however as of this writing, I would not recommend it. It is in the process of changing management and many things need to be corrected. 1. Currently the guest entrance is on the side of the property ( very un-palace like) where you go through security screening and enter a makeshift bar/reception area. I was looking forward to arriving at a palace!
2. Their credit card terminal was down the whole time we were there and they insisted we pay cash. That made it difficult to get enough cash for other needs.as many restaurants in Moscow do not take credit cards. It was unpleasant and unexpected.
3. The breakfast was mediocre, the restaurant is "open 24 hours a day" but they do not serve alcohol and it was empty.
4. The mini-bar was empty.
5. The jacuzzi was cold.

Old palace now a very high standard hotel with massive health spa with most activities included in the price. Rooms huge, comfortable and quite luxurios. Had no bother finding it and 5 min walk frim Dinimo subway through the park. Staff were brilliantly helpful and were a real asset to a very good hotel.

Stayed here with my husband for 3 nights. Taxi driver couldn't find the entrance as he was convinced it was 'a museum and not a hotel'. We eventually found it on foot after dragging our suitcases a few hundred yards through 4 foot of snow! Arrived to cheery reception staff who spoke excellent English. Gave us our room key, went to our room, opened the door to find another guest laying on the bed! Not the best start....though the reception were very apologetic for the mix up and quickly us a new room which was stunning, opulent, spacious, incredibly clean and relaxing. The breakfast was varied, well cooked and presented, plentiful and tasty. But the restaurant just like the whole building severely lacked 'soul'. I found the long walk through strange tunnels to the restaurant from the guest rooms rather eerie and weird and not in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The spa facilities were excellent, modern, clean and rejuvenating. The pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna were all great. The room was cleaned well each day. Just a 3 minute walk to the metro station. Easy to reach the centre within 15 minutes. A great location. I wish I could put my finger on precisely what we didn't like about this hotel, it just didnt 'feel' right. As a previous reviewer stated, this could've been because of the size of the place and that made it lack that intimate feeling. Don't be put off if you've already booked this hotel, it is an altogether lovely hotel and a great central location in wonderful Moscow.

As other reviewers have noted this is a hotel built in a refurbished palace. The decor reflects the old palace decor with decently sized ornate rooms with very comfortable beds, wardrobe with safe and TV.

The bathrooms are large as well and around odern than the rooms. This being Russia, the bathroom floors are heated making the trip to the shower stall comfortable. One of the few gripes I have is the the water pressure in the showers was a bit too low for me.

Staff are friendly at reception and at the 24hr restaurant where they served a decent breakfast. When it's cold, but you can access the restaurant and the spa with its beautiful pool through underground passages. Free wifi and ATMs on site round off the amenities although at the time of this review, the bar was only licensed to serve beer, so you would be disappointed if you wanted a glass of wine or something stronger.

The Dynamo metro station is 5 minutes walk away, and and then Red Square and the rest of the heart of Moscow is a mere 15 minutes away. This also puts you at an advantage of you're out after 1am (metro closing time) as taxis to the hotel from within central Moscow shouldn't cost more than around 25 dollars.

The few gripes are here...
1. Shower pressure
2. It is very quiet (lack of guests) and the tiny spaces under doors mean that on late nights, you can occasionally hear a loud guest.
3. The hotel feels deserted sometimes purely because not enough guests know about it.

The hotel has only been open since 2011 and it's a pity more people don't know about it. If this place had more guests, it would add a lot to the atmosphere and easily make it one of the best value and most convenient hotels in the city.

Petroff Palace Hotel is a newly renovated palace that is like a Russian fairytale palace. It was a palace built by Catherine the Great as her last stop before returning to the Kremlin. Napoleon stayed here and used it as his headquarters. There are disneyesque turrets and wonderful grounds that give one the sense of having slipped into a time warp. The rooms are enormous and grand; the breakfast was outstanding and the location lovely next to a park and the nearby subway station.
There were some oddities. In the middle is a museum but it does not belong tot he hotel and entrance is only by groups and our attempts to find how to join one made us feel that Kafka had joined forces with the KGB. The hotel has a lovely health spa with a fantastic pool which made illuminating reflections on the ceiling not to mention two kinds of saunas - very important in Russian sensibilities. The next day I went for my swim and sauna and the place was closed. When I went to the desk, they had not idea that it was closed and remained inexplicable closed.
For luxury like this the price was very reasonable. If you wish to be part of a Russian fairytale, the Petroff Palace is a good place to go.

The Russians may have deposed the Monarchy but at this hotel you still feel like royalty. The hotel is a renovated Palace with large, clean, tastefully decorated rooms. The staff is very attentive and the breakfast amazing. A 5 minute walk to the metro and an 8 minute ride into the center of the city. I highly recommend this hotel
