It is a city hotel which has e renovated but old building. Probably carries generations of traditions or experience. I stayed only one night briefly. Service of reception staff was very informative and fast. Wifi was fast and have good coverage. It is obvious that huge effort was done to make hotel fit for today's standards but there are things which come with age - 2 cm empty space under room door. Room, linens and towels were clean.

Hotel is clean enough but it is a bit of a soviet era dinosaur in general a soulless place. Best to avoid eating here as choice is expensive and limited. Breakfast buffet is ok. Staff are poorly trained and speak little English. All meals must be payed for in advance with cash which is extremely inconvenient for the business traveller. I was booked in for a business trip of 2weeks but departed to another hotel after 2 nights, which I think says it all. Also no amenities close to hotel. Recommend to give the place a wide berth. Many better value hotels in Moscow.

Decent hotel and affordable pricing structure. Although a bit lousy service but overall helpful staff. Have stayed here thrice and I think the central location (close to Red Square) & the decently cheap pricing - compared to the Inns in Moscow are the key positives of the hotel. No internet services in the room, (IBIS-Moscow has free wi-fi in the rooms) - LAN/wi-fi is charged at 500 roubles per day/ device. Decent food - but less options. Overall a comfortable place to stay at an affordable price with a heritage hotel like feel

stayed here for a short business trip as it was close to clients office. Not a good choice. Very tired and very bureaucratic. Breakfast was poor and the restaurant in the evening wouldn't let you put the meal on the bill. a bit odd.

Stayed in this hotel as part of a tour. Location was not brilliant, being quite a way from main attractions and not much in the local area but OK if you're being picked up by coach. Rooms were excellent size and had tea/coffee making facilities and a complimentary bottle of water each. However, to top this up would have been expensive. Never bought a drink in the bar so don't know what prices were like there. Breakfast was excellent choice and plenty of it, also plenty of places to sit even though it is an enormous hotel and the World Athletic Championships were on so there were lots of groups there for those. The main problem our group had was changing money. We arrived on a Friday night so banks were closed all weekend. There were cash machines in the lobby but as most of us were advised to bring Dollars or Euros to exchange the one that changed notes for us seemed to run out of money. There did not seem to be an abundance of change kiosks in Moscow either (contrary to information in most guide books, get some Rubles in the UK as rate is not that much different) I did not sleep very well in the hotel as I had a room which faced the main road but others in the party had no problems. Maybe a room at the back would have been better. All in all though, my experience of the hotel and Moscow in general was a good one.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter

We had the benefit of a friend who speaks Russian. Without them this hotel could have been a nightmare.

We stayed here as it was convenient for the family we were visiting. We have no previous experience of staying in Moscow so didn't know what to expect.

The room was a decent size, on the top floor and clean. The whole experience was interesting as our booking got cancelled in error by the hotel and then reinstated. However, this meant that when we arrived they told us we hadn't paid. What they didn't tell us was that they'd processed a refund which can take 10 days to reach your card. I therefore ended up paying a second time but only after I got evidence of the refund being processed.

The upgraded room included tea/coffee facilities. Great. But no milk. When we asked for milk it took a call involving no less than 8 people. Eventually a whole litre of milk was delivered together with a charge of 400 roubles (about £8.50).

Our second night was ditrubed by a phone call at 12.40am from someone who I can only describe as being a "working girl" looking for business. When I complained at reception they weren't interested. We then had to ensure the sounds of a very enthusiastic couple as the walls are paper thin.

The wifi in the hotel is awful. Free wifi is only available on the first 2 floors and in a bar on the 5th floor. The business centre is shocking with 3 antique PC's and an internet connection limited to jusy 64k. Yes, just 64k. If you want fast internet (1mb) then you have to pay for the router in your room to be turned on.

Breakfast was reasonable but there are some random inclusions in the buffet... during our stay these included chips (french fries), canned peas and canned sweetcorn.

Overall, we would certainly visit Moscow again but wouldn't use this hotel again. Avoid.

Room Tip: Upgrade from the standard rooms. Choose non-smoking or the rooms stink.

We got the upgraded room and it was nice and big. If you book in advance on their website you get 15% which is good for Moscow standards. We paid about 150 a night in july.

I've stayed at multiple places in russia and their buffett breakfast is the best. Lots of options.

It's close to a busy street, but far away you don't hear from within your room. Makes it a bit of a challenge for walking around. 10-15 minute walk to subway or restaurants. Not many options nearby. No wifi in room, only in main areas and not very good.

Front desk staff not friendly at all (common in russia, but i've had better in other places) and problems with english language.
