Expect the hotel staff to lose your booking, same-same breakfast every day, and very basic breakfast at that, smallish rooms with occasional hairs on bed sheets - and outrageously high prices. Now, disregard all of that, since every Moscow hotel save the most high-end ones have similar shortcomings.

Arbat House is excellently located, cost less than other hotels in the vicinity, is generally clean, freshly refurbished, and friendly.

We recently stayed in this hotel & had been worried by some reviews on this site. However we needed not have worried. This is a classic Russian hotel, newly refurbished with a lot of character. It was clean, beds comfortable, no nosier than normal hotels, friendly staff & breakfast really good. Well located for central walking tours.

Room Tip: All buildings are low in Moscow, so no views are available but we had a quite room at the back on th...

We stayed in freezing Moscow for 4 days during January and chose Arbat House hotel due to a last minute offer. Small but clean room, nice breakfast, helpful and polite staff, very good location considering that its 10 minutes walking distance from city centre and 5 minutes from the metro station.

Stayed at this hotel being on a business trip in Moscow for a week. I’ll try to be objective and will list some pros and cons that might help you deciding whether to stay or not in this hotel. However, this time the cons prevail.
Pros:
• The location is very good, ultra-central, 100 min by walk to metro and Arbat street. At the same time the location is very quiet.
• The price per room is affordable and not high for Moscow.
• There is a free and fast wi-fi internet in the rooms.
• The personnel’s attitude is very positive and they try to be helpful (although not very efficient and this will be listed in the cons).

Cons:
• The hotel is in the full process of renovation now and this was neither communicated to us when booking nor announced at their web site. This includes the whole “bonus” package, including all types of construction noise (like drilling etc.) during the day time, falsework surrounding the building, workers at this falsework that you see at the distance of 1 meter from your window if the curtains are not closed.
• 70% of the time the elevator did not work. Imaging climbing the stairs with your heavy luggage to the 4-th or 5-th floor (as there is no staff that would help you with that) and you’ll be really sorry for the guests, especially the older ones. Once returning to the hotel at late night we were told by the receptions that the elevator did not work because if we get stuck in it they wouldn’t be able helping us because no specialists were available until morning.
• There is a smell of dampness in the room.
• The breakfast was very modest. Really, no choice.
• You can hear what the guests in the neighbor rooms speak about and when they flush the toilet.
• The hotel administration has no experience (or does not really care) in working with group orders with bank transfer payments and providing all necessary documentations. We had problems in getting the evidence of our stay at the hotel and a group reservation of our colleagues was unilaterally canceled as the hotel administration did not want to fill in the vendor’s form needed to my colleagues in order to proceed with the payment.
• There is a lack of communication and coordination between the hotel staff. We ordered lunch boxes instead of our breakfast as we had to leave early in the morning. However, when double checking with the receptionist in the evening we found out that no information was communicated to them and to the restaurant and we had to order this again (so there was a real chance to remain hungry in the morning :(. To sweeten the pill I must say that the lunch box sandwich was really tasty :)
My advice in conclusion: the cons significantly prevail versus the pros. Do not go there.

It was very bad experience. Nobody inform that hotel under reconstruction - thats why too many noices. It is impossible to sleep and relax. Very thin walls. So you can hear TV in next apartment.
Doors not closed properly. So you have to use your power to open-close it.

Stuff was really cheaters. The prices always are much higher that real city prices for taxi service. And I have a story there - I prolong my room for 2nd day stay there. On reception said that my room will not be available/ I paid for higher price room with queen bed. When I wanted to get my new bigger room. Stuff offered to stay in the same small room for this big price, with no money back. Additionaly I could not decline my booking - hotel charged 100% for canceleration.... Stuff not said even sorry. Additionally they not say Hello or Buy next day. They got money and it is end. It is VERY unprofessional. Highly not recomennded to stay here.

Room Tip: No one room reccomended

This hotel was not good at all, the young lady at the desk when we arrived was anything but helpful. The rooms are very small, I had requested twin beds and on finally getting into our room it had a double bet, although they did fix that problem, it was not done with any friendly manner. The wifi only worked for me in the foyer or breakfast area, not in the room. Breakfast was not enjoyable at all the fruit juice was almost warm, and if you offer bacon and eggs, surely there should there should be toast not stale bread. They had renovations going on and the noise was awful not at all possible to have a rest in the afternoon, we were not offered any discount because of this, and no apology. Would I recommend this hotel NO.

Room Tip: Do not go there

I was stay in this hotel for 3 nights. It was a pleasure for me. There are about 20 rooms with a/c and wifi and flat screen TV.
The location is ideal for the tourist and for the businesman. It is a safety pleace in front of the Embasy of Ghana. You can walk to Red Square and the Kremlin in 50 minutes. The metro is only 300 m.
I can recommend this hotel!
