Description:> is the time-honored russian cuisine restaurant in central neighbourhood. This is the place, where traditional interior concept meets contemporary meal variations. The restaurant located a few steps from prime city attractions such as Palace square and St-Isaac Cathedral, which made it a very favored tourists spot. All guests can enjoy a homestyle old-fashion tavern atmosphere while drinking a cup of tea. "Step down into the warm and cozy cave that is Koleso and get settled in for an evening of old Slavic comfort. Iron candelabras give the room a medieval glow, while the crisp creamy tablecloths lend things a romantic touch. The menu is truly Slavic and will satisfy anyone looking for a good fill of wholesome Russian food. Meat is king and there is a broad choice of succulent meaty cuts as well as delicacies such as tongue and liver to be found in the extensive menu. The waitstaff are professional and know the menu well and will be happy to guide you through some of the region's more unusual dishes." - says popular guide "in your pocket". All inferior items are hand-made: the candelabras, solid wooden barrels, horseshoes on the walls, and even stained glass at the windows. Also, here, at "Koleso" you can see a real working Russian samovar - typical symbol of a Russian tea ceremony. All furniture is made from first-class white oak. Every guest will be satisfied with a various original Russian cuisine recipes, such as famous Russian soup "rassolnik", which traditionally cooking with a duck, traditional Russian-cabbage soup is serving with a beef tongue. The classic Russian borsch and meat solyanka also made with a traditional and respected by Russians recipe. For main course are perfectly suited such classic meals as rabbit in pumpkin sauce served with mashed potatoes, and most-favorable by tourists chiken-kiev cutlets, beef stroganoff with mashed potatoes. All russian meat ravioli in "Koleso" restaurant are hand-made and serving with a sour-cream sauce. Well-known Russian blini in "Koleso" are serving with side of true Russian regale: black or red caviar, and with sweet strawberry or caramel sauces for a desert. Drinks menu includes vodka which perfectly combines with every meat meal or soup, calvados, gin, various whiskey labels.

This was the first place we ate at in St. Pete's. We just got off our flight, booked into our hotel near the Issakiyskiy cathedral and we vere extremely hungry. Tripadvisor suggested we go there and it wasn't a bad place.

However later on we realised that the dished in that restaurant cost twice the price of dishes in ordinary restaurants in the centre. In addition, the music was horrid. The service was quite OK, but not fantastic (they could have chenged the music, since we were the only visitors).

Later on we realised that even though the food was good it was largely overpriced. So the visit left a bittersweet aftertaste.

I was surprised to see such great reviews of this place. Its primary advantage is location, just steps from the W Hotel. In fact, we later saw more than half of the restaurant patrons in the W after dinner. The restaurant is comfortable enough and there is variety on the menu. We both ordered chicken Kiev and I ordered salad. My salad arrived when my wife's chicken arrived. I then waited quite a while before my chicken arrived. The server was particularly good at avoiding eye contact. The menu showed a selection of side dishes but the server was most enthusiastic in pushing the french fries. Average food quality, decent prices and service that was below average. After a long day of walking, however, it is more appealing than when one has the energy to go elsewhere.

I have found restaurant "Koleso" by chance. After visiting St.Isaacs Cathedral with my friends from USA we were walking by Voznesenskiy prospect and saw this restaurant. My friends wanted to try russian cuisine,so we decided to come in.We were very glad with everything: good service and tasty food . Especiallу we liked beefStroganov, pancakes and pelmeni. Since that time I recommend this place to all my friends who ask me about russian cuisine, cause unfortunately its hard to find good restaurant with homemade russian food in St-Petersburg.

Restaurant "Koleso" is located perfectly - right in the center of St. Petersburg: next to St. Isaac Cathedral, two minurtes walking from Astoria hotel and about five minutes from the Hermitage Museum. The interior is cosy, but the main thing is absolutely delicious food at very reasonable prices. Whatever you prefer: soup, salad, main dish or just a desert, you will like everything there. Staff is polite. They have menu in English. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

Walking the streets of SPB in winter it is hard to 'find' restaurants as they often have little frontage to advertise their existence, we stumbled upon this by accident, though it was only 4 mins from our hotel! A cellar restaurant, serving delightful dishes, the service was so charming and the value superb. As tourists on their final night, we succumbed and ordered stroganoff, with sauerkraut and hot veg sides, the food was excellent. Including beers and vodka, the bill was barely 60euros. Highly recommended *****
