Dear Guests,
Thank you for posting your review. We apologize for the inconveniences caused but, yes, SkyHotel is a very small hotel and does not have much of such luxury as space. Your remark about English language abilities of our front office staff seems very confusing to us, as all our receptionists speak good English. We shall certainly check out this issue to find out where the language problem came from.
We thank you for sharing and shall be glad to welcome you again.
With kind regards,

Central St Petersburg at this price! Indeed a great deal.

Clean, small, cosy. Friendly service. Don't be shocked with the entrance, just take the shaky elevator upstairs...

If you need Hilton then go to Hilton, but if you want to see the City and not spend your days in a Hotel then this is your choice.

Even the shared bath worked for us: it was clean and every time we needed it it was free (although the hotel was fully booked).

Well, the entrance to the hotel had us wondering what we had gotten ourselves in to. However, the rooms are clean, and the location is fantastic. For the price, you can't expect a high quality hotel, and this one had a slight hostel feeling about it. The breakfast is down the road at the Nevsky Aster. We got the feeling that this might have been a recent change, as the website said that breakfast was at the Nevsky Grand Hotel and the Aster didn't seem quite equipped to manage people from two hotels. We recommend going to breakfast at 8am when it starts, as you may struggle to get a seat closer to 9am. The food was nothing special, however after watching some Russians put little sausages and butter in their porridge, you understand that what constitutes a 'good' breakfast obviously depends entirely on what you are used to!

The bathroom was the oddest design I have ever come across (toilet roll holder above the cistern) however it was clean, and the water was hot. On that note, so was the room. However, the hotel is tucked in away from the traffic, so we could sleep with the window open.

So in summary, you get what you pay for, and for this price, in this location, clean and basic is all you can expect. And the Nevsky Sky hotel does deliver on that score.

Given the price I had no great expectation. However this hotel was very good. It is a bit difficult to ge into the hotel but otherwise it had everything you need for your city break. The location is particularly great.

Staff are very friendly and speak well English particularly Irina and Alexei. IWill stay there again.

My only criticism is that there are few toilets but this is a problem in all of St Petersburg.

We stayed during the White Nights for 5 nights. We paid extra for the en suite room. I'm not sure where all these other people have stayed, but our time there was one of the worst experiences I've ever had while traveling. I do not claim this lightly, I have deployed to two combat zones.

The bathroom stank so badly that we had to jam towels under the door to stop the smell. When we complained to the clerk, he handed us a stack of tourist maps and said to cover the shower drain with them. We ended up going across the street to buy something resembling Pine-Sol to dump down the drain every day. I couldn't find bleach, or I'd have used that instead.

We were in the first room by the door up from the stairs outside the check-in desk. The door slammed at all hours, and every sound in the hall was clearly audible.

To enter the building proper, you enter a security door via a trash-strewn alleyway. That leads you to a stairwell shared by the apartments that occupy the rest of the building. The stairwell smells like a trash dump. There's an elevator that will take you up to the check-in. Someone weed in the elevator on the second day we were there, it wasn't cleaned up for the remainder of the trip.

Our tour guide came up to pick up a book we'd left for her, and she said she'd never been spoken to more rudely in her life. She's Russian, and therefore likely to be an authority on what constitutes rudeness in her country. I tend to believe her.

Lastly, when we were finally fleeing this dump, the clerk insisted that the only taxi he'd call for us would be one that charged us four times the going rate. Our tour guide called another cab company. I wish I could remember how much we paid, but it was cheap and fast. The phone number was 6000000 (six million), so that's a bit easier to remember.

Speaking of taxis, I cannot stress enough that you should run away from anyone offering to get you a cab or claiming that the "meter rate" is official. There was some kind of economic summit going on when we got there, and we tried to get to the official kiosk to call a cab, but they were only helping the dignitaries. Some guy wearing an event lanyard offered to help. Like fools, we accepted, and soon we were also much poorer fools to the tune of several hundred rubles -- the fare that our driver's meter showed. Only later did we find out that taxi meters don't work there yet because they couldn't agree on a rate scheme.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your comments. They are very important to us and we appreciate your time and effort spent for sharing. We are really sorry that you had such an unfortunate experience and that there was absolutely nothing you liked about our hotel. It is a pity that you posted the review almost a year after your stay with us, as it deprives us of the opportunity to investigate the circumstances of your stay at our hotel, including rudeness of staff. Our personel is our special pride and one can find words of appreciation almost in all the reviews. Therefore it is very important to us to investigate the rudeness issue which, to tell the truth, we find hardly probable. We apologize for all the inconveniences you might have experienced and wish you all the best.
