The hotel was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
The rooms quiet and kept clean. The air-con was a little noisy. The food was good in the hotel.
The only drawback to this hotel is the location. The hotel is 20 to 30 minutes walk from the main sites and main restaurants. As there are no passing taxis in this area , the hotel needs to call taxis which start at RU500.

Room Tip: We were at the back of the hotel and rooms very quiet

Dear Guest

thank you for your nice review! It is great to hear you have found our hotel and services to be of a very good level.

It is true that it take about 20 minutes to walk to the main sites of the city. However we have to keep in mind that St. Petersburg is a rather big city with more than five million inhabitants. Therefore also the distances even within the central city are rather long. Due to the reality of a metropolitan city I would recommend to use the well working public transportation. From our hotel the bus routes, cable car and metro as all within just a few steps away and easy to access. For more information you may contact our friend concierge.

Hope to have you with us again in St. Petersburg!

Yours

Really good value hotel. we stayed for 3 nights in May 2013 as part of a Moscow St Petersburg sight seeing trip. Buffett breakfast was really good and there is a decent sports bar attached to the Hotel if that is your thing. The front desk staff too were really helpful. The Hotels not on the main Island but the Metro is close, or you can walk along the river and over the bridge to all the main sites in about 20 minutes. I would definitely use Sokos again again after this experience

This was a very comfortable hotel, with a large room, large bed and including a refrigerator. It was spotlessly clean and (as long as we kept the windows closed) very quiet. The bathroom was also spacious, with good hot water and water pressure, and nice, large towels. They provide a robe and slippers for each guest.

Room Tip: We were in room 721, on the top floor and *exactly* diagonally opposite the reception area. As a result, I believe, we had very poor wi-fi contact most of the time, though my laptop connected just fine in the ground floor lobby. The room numbers near the top (743 was, I think, the highest room number) or bottom on each floor, and the lower floors, may give better wi-fi service

We stayed in this Finnish chain hotel Sokos hotel Vasilievski for three nights in May.Hotel is nice, rooms are quite big and clean. Air-condition is fast and efficient, though a bit loud. The room facing the street is quite noisy .bathrooms are big enough and clean. The breakfast was good but the menu for dinner was quite narrow..there was a la carte and buffet!
Biggest problem was distances. The hotel is quite far away from main attraction so you have to walk a lot or learn to use the public transportation. The busses and subway are so easy to use...
But next time absolutely we shall stay in the hotel otherside of Neva!

St.Petersburg is full of everything from history to gourmet....from churches to luxury boutiques..from Amazing parks to artgalleries, just name it!
I can highly recommend the city but plan ahead what you want to see and choose the hotel thinking of that. The distances are huge....

Room Tip: Facing the yard..are quiet!

Dear Eija,

Thank you for sharing your experience of staying at Sokos Hotel Vasilievsky with the fellow travelers online.

I am happy to hear you have found our rooms to be specious and tidy overall. As for the room to be noisy I have to apologize and admit it, even though it is a temporary problem and we can not do much about it: one of the main bridges over Neva river is under reconstruction (partially already opened on 20.05) and all the traffic through and from Vasilievsky island is passing by our hotel to make it to Blagoveshinski (ex. Schmidt bridge). I can assure you that already now it is much more quiet.

It is nice to hear that you have enjoyed the breakfast. Here at Sokos Hotel Vasilievsky we know how important it is to start a day with a nice proper meal.

I am honestly surprised to hear and can not agree with your statement about the evening menu of the restaurant: we have to options for dining in house. Repin Lounge - hotel's main restaurant has plenty to choose from on the food side: Italian dishes, special section of home made Burgers, dishes from the grill, Russian culinary classics and much more..During the summer season we also have daily buffet during the evening, which also offers a nice selection of tasty food. At the same time we are not aiming at quantity but QUALITY: our Chef is a very talented person and we get plenty of complements from our gusts regarding the restaurant and food especially on the daily basics. Honestly! In addition to Repin Lounge guests also have a possibility to go to 8th Line Pub - a lively sports bar with bar hoppers' and fun lovers' fod options on the menu (snacks, grill, salads and soups and, of course, our famous burgers). It might seem that I am a bit overreacting at your comment, but being in charge of Food and Beverage at the hotel I am very passionate at what I am doing!

As for the hotel being, in your opinion far away from the main attractions. It may seem for some, but as you mentioned yourself, public transportation works well, and it takes 7-10 minutes to get to the Hermitage and so on...Also, some of our guests just love the strolls along the river to the city's main part, especially in the summer.

Being a native St. Peterburger I am very thankful for your comment on the attractiveness of our city and I am also proud to work here and contribute to your enjoyment of St. Petersburg!

Despite the fact that you are planning to stay on the other side of Neva during your next visit, I am still happy to welcome you back any time.

Hienoa ja oikein mukavaa kesän jatkoa!
DM

Excellent hotel, very clean and the room exactly as depicted on the website with a huge double bed, making a nice change from twin beds we usually seem to get on city breaks. No noise at all and the temperature controls worked quickly, so you could cool down after a warm day in St Petersburg. The staff were all extremely helpful, spoke excellent English, and went out of their well to make your stay pleasant. It's a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the Hermitage, St Isaac's etc so we didn't even need to venture on the metro although some staying at the hotel did and said it was easy. Breakfast was nice and plentiful, rooms looked pristine every evening on returning. I would recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful city and if we come back we will definitely stay at Sokos Vasilievsky.
Handy little shop on the left of the hotel for crisps/snacks etc.

Dear Guest

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback! It is great to hear you have enjoyed your stay with us and have also found your way easily to the nearby major sights in the city. It is true that most of the main spot in St. Petersburg are just a stone throw away from our lovely hotel.

We wish to see you again with us in St. Petersburg any time soon!

Yours
